Black screen I tried to turn on my hp pavilion dv2000 & the screen is just black.. it wont do anything but the lights on the keyboard area are lighting up as ususal.

when you say some times it keeps going does this mean the unit turns off ??,,,,this model has the gpu problem,,,dry solder joint of the graphics card, of which you can have the board repaired or replace the board

It could be due to a defective inverter board.

Yes, the GPU is faulty. either replace the systemboard or reflow the GPU. Second option is cheaper and you can do it yourself. There's a link for a diy guide to fix that issue.

try to re install first the software or program then observe if the same problem,, check the lcd inverter...

hello..try to open the unit then find the memory and make a clean the memory by using paper eraser to clean a memory..Thanks and Good Luck..^_^

Remove yoru battery off and try powering on with the power cable plugged in.

i m in Hong Kong. The stupid HP repair center charged US 90 just for inspection!!!!! They they said the whole motherboard had to be replaced, thts additional US 630 dollars, the thing is just 1.5 yr old. They also said i don get to keep the broken mother board after replacement. This is simply irresponsible, unethical, sleazy and UNJUST!!

Thanks. right now the computer is fixed for US70. when i hv time, i'll open it up and see if i can figure it out how it was fixed. The shop suggested tht the computer wont last too long. This is such bad quality for HP... Sorry, i hv to do the following for other victims to find this easily:
