Determine which shank your machine uses. Then you can find zipper feet with that shank.

Go to:

http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/
select Presser Feet
select Shop By Shank

Once you know the shank, you can probably find presser feet in multiple locations, including eBay.

Re: Pfaff sewing machine, How do I use the zipper foot attachment?

It really depends on what your zipper foot looks like. There are several that can be used with the Pfaff machines.

How do I attach the zipper foot to my pfaff performance machine?

There are two locations on the foot, either left or right. Simply click the foot on either side, but you should see your instruction manual, the picture will show you how.

Pfaff Expresions 3.0. Using my zipper foot with 3 teeth. But can not get the needle to position to sew close to zipper

Um, not sure what presser foot you are using--there are several.

If it is the invisible zipper foot, there is a groove in the bottom of the presser foot that straddles one strip of zipper teeth which positions it close to the needle. Zipper foot #4 snaps to either side to enable the needle to be close to the zipper teeth. The Narrow Adjustable Zipper/Straight Stitch and the Non-Stick Zipper Feet are moveable left or right.

Can I use modern presser feet with my Pfaff 130?

It all depends on your particular model machine.

Found on the internet, Low Shank vs High Shank:
"When presser foot is down, measure the distance from the bottom of foot to screw-hole that holds the foot onto the presser bar. Singer slant is for slant needle machine only. A high shank machine measures approximately 1 1/4" from the screw to the bottom of the foot."

You may be able to use snap-on feet if you can first buy the shank adapter for your machine. You can buy a whole kit of 10 or more different snap-on feet that you would be able to use with the adapter shank.

Buying brand-name accessories could get very expensive. Some believe the generics or snap-on are inferior, but that is a matter for the owner to determine after deciding how much the accessories will be used. Personally, the snap-on feet I've used serve their purpose. If I am using a foot very frequently, I will consider buying the brand-name because the quality is usually better.

You'll need to determine what shank your machine has and whether these feet will work on your machine. Frequently, you can find accessories on eBay.

Here's an example of an adapter for low shank:

You should be able to buy another foot, but you'll need to know if it is a high shank or a clip on style. Try this link to www.sewingpartsonline.com http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/pfaff-sewing-machine-presser-feet.aspx they have two invisible zipper feet and two clip on ones. Don't mention your model but you should be able to email and ask if you aren't sure. I'd expect that the feet would be interchangeable between the models in the same era as yours. Just ignore the long funny shaped feet, they are for Pfaff sergers.

Someone gave me a Life style Pfaff sewing machine and I don't have the manual. I would like to know how to use the rolled hem foot and need to purchase a pipping foot. A foot to make pipping, 1/4 -...

I would suggest you contact Pfaff firstly to see if you can obtain a manual, its always worth having the one for your machine. I presume you are in the USA? if yes, go to www.pfaffusa.com or ring toll free 1-800-446-2333 Monday-Friday 8:00a - 4:00p CST or email [email protected]
or go to www.pfaff.com then choose your own country then go to "contact us". and find the details.

Using a rolled hem foot is the same on all sewing machines, you are introducing the cut edge of the fabric into the front of the foot and it rolls the cut edge twice, as you seam over it. Its fiddly, you need a straight trimmed edge, and you have to keep the same amount going into the foot for it to work. You can either straight stitch or do a small zigzag over the fabric. Getting it started is the hardest bit because you need something through the foot to stitch on so it doesn't just get pulled into the hole on the needle plate.

try this link http://sewing.about.com/library/sewnews/library/aatech0803.htm for a bit more info on this, some machine makes sell a 2mm, 4mm or 6mm foot for different weights of fabric and finishes. You can buy accessories for your pfaff from www.sewingpartsonline.com or from Pfaff. Pfaff website even has free projects and a newsletter for customers.

Just put the foot on, lower the pressure foot onto the edge of the fabric, do a couple of straight stitches, then raise the pressure foot and pull the fabric back an inch, so you have something to hang onto at the back, then put 1/4 of fabric into the open part of the foot, hold it there, lower the pressure foot and start stitching, keep a bit of fabric turned in in front of the foot so you help it go into the foot and try to keep it a constant width, trial and error, you'll soon get the hang of it.

Piping can often be done with your zipper foot, you just want to encase the piping cord with a bias cut fabric strip and stitch as close to the edge of the cord as you can to hold it nice and tight. Then put the piping strip between two pieces of fabric and again stitch close to the cord so the first line of stitching doesn't show. Some machines, the zipper foot will have a guide so you can squeeze the cord up against the foot. Here is a link for piping techniques http://sewing.about.com/od/techniques/a/covercording.htm and covering cord http://sewing.about.com/od/techniques/ss/cordingpiping.htm

Just cut the bias strip width to suit your cord width, join the bias strips together if you want lots of length, then wrap fabric around the cord, right side out, put it under the zipper foot and stitch through the fabric as close to the cord as you can, on some machines you can adjust the needle position to get close but check your manual for help on this, you don't want to strike the foot, just sew up close to it.

I haven't done double piping, but I presume you would sew two layers of piping on top of each other?

I've got a old "Sewing Soft Furnishings" text book that I found at the op shop for $2, the images are daggy but the techniques don't change, most furnishing stuff is just taking measurements, adding seam allowances, and sewing straight seams, so the machine doesn't have to be fancy, or need lots of accessories, just know-how. What you do need is a strong machine to sew upholstery fabric, many domestic machines just won't handle heavy weight fabrics too well. Large sized needles 110 size will be important too.

I'd suggest you try one of Debbie's free pillow guides as a start http://sewing.about.com/lr/free_pillow_projects/271734/4/ , go for something without a zipper at first, and once you've made a couple of easy pillows, your confidence will grow.

Good luck with your Pfaff and enjoy your sewing.

How to use a zipper foot please? I have lost instructions and have no idea which is the zipper foot or how to use it can you help please.

  1. Step 1 To prepare the fabric for a centered zipper application, use the standard presser foot to baste the opening of the fabric shut using 5/8 inch seam allowance. Press the seam allowance open. Place the zipper teeth side down on the seam allowance and pin the zipper to the seam allowance only.
  2. Step 2 Release the standard presser foot from your machine. There may be a button or lever behind the foot that you need to press. Put the standard foot in its holder or someplace where it won’t get lost.
  3. Step 3 Decide which side of the machine you want to attach the zipper foot to. Zipper feet are asymmetrical, with one side that’s wider than the other. You’ll want to put the narrow side toward the zipper teeth, and the wider side away from the zipper teeth.
  4. Step 4 Attach the zipper foot to the sewing machine. You may need to line up the bar on the zipper foot with the presser foot holder, then lower the presser foot by lowering the lever. Raise the presser foot and make sure the zipper foot is securely attached.
  5. Step 5 Place the prepared fabric with the pinned zipper in the sewing machine. Lower the needle into the zipper tape and the seam allowance only, then lower the zipper foot. Stitch the zipper tape to the seam allowance. To sew the other side of the zipper to the seam allowance, remove the zipper foot from the sewing machine and install it on the other side of the presser foot holder.
  6. Step 6 Topstitch the outside of the fabric to each side of the zipper tape, making sure that the zipper foot is on the appropriate side of the machine for each side. Remove the basting with a seam ripper.
