I have a 1998 mercury 150 XR6 and need the serial number. The tag is missing. On the title it shows 0666591 and comes up as not found. Is there another area to look?

I have a 24 ft wi a 90hp. Cavatation usually results from improper trim. When reaching plane, watch bow. If bouncing, adjust trim so bouncing stops, then you are in proper trim for weight. Just like an airplane. Trim changes with number of passengers, moving passengers, etc.
Best of luck, captain.
You'll find a tag on your bracket.
The upper numbers you'll find your serial number,
Then in the 'box' just below the 4 digits indicating the production year.
Is it a 2.5Hp, or 2.5liter? Your serial is in the V-6 2-stroke 135-175 Xr range...
what did the former insurance companys paperwork say was the serial number ?? , also how did you obtain a clear title for it ?? the title has to have the serial number written on it to be legal , I know this as a few years back I got a free boat trailer (same deal owner died relative gave it too me ) that I since modified over to a log hauler , I had to make a small metal plate with stamped numbers in it (16 digits long ) and screw it to the frame b4 the motor vee would give me a title and hence registration for it and since it weighed over 5klbs (gross) I had to have insurance on it too , plus it had to be checked over by the state police to make sure I didn't steal it too ! all in it took me two months to modify it and two months to get tags on it !!
go google and type in--- mercury outboard serial numbers -- there are sites that listhp against serial numbers against year of manufacture
while you serial number may not be listed they state that the beginning of the number to the next changing number is the year of make
for example ---4261012 to 4302999 ( next number 48103665,year 2002) may be year 1999 so your number would be a 1999 model
The information provided will take a bit of understanding as it appears that the manufacturer changed the method a number of times
talk with a mercury / mariner service shop as they will have the information on hand
That serial number doesn't seem to match any of the formats I have found. The "CN" could indicate the year 1982. The "MN" could indicate manual-tilt and counter rotation.

The S/No is you serial number it is asking for. Try putting the S/N in the internet and see if that radio comes up with solutions. Otherwise take it to a dealer. For that I think they would have an answer for you as to how to fix it free of charge.
