Hi Thomas, I am not aware of your model but try pressing the receiver button in the remote mode section or RCV on top depending on your receiver model. Thank you, Onkyo USA

Model DR-S2.0. Why doesn't it respond to remotes?

Hello Ole Soerensen,

After reading your Owners manual...

Looks like a beautiful piece of equipment... PAGE 17

**
BIG HIGHLIGTHED BOX, Item numbered 2...

SPECIFICALLY States... Your REMOTE will ONLY work from
"STAND-BY" Mode (controlled by your power switch.

Check it out FROM Your factory specified remote...
(the only one you need to worry about)
  • needs to be clean (Infra Red light)
  • battery terminals clean
  • batteries (type AA/R6/UM3) fresh

The remote works best 16 feet directly in front of the IR Sensir
located under the large knob on the right side of your unit
(+/- 30 degrees... away from bright light... and ALL obstructions).

Your unit must be away from strong light such as direct sunlight or inverted fluorescent light which can prevent proper operation of the remote controller.

Press "MODE AUDIO" first before operating the speaker
setting and sound related operations

Do get out your Onkyo DR-S2.0 owners manual (page 8) & read it (nothing magic).

Hope this is helpful.

Not responding to remotes

I've owned an Onkyo DS696 receiver for 5+years. Every once in a while (when it was on for a long time?) the receiver would not respond to the remote. At first it could be "fixed" by a simple power cycle. It got worse over the years, and finally the unit would not respond to the remote at all. After reading a post here that made perfect sense, my husband and I opened the unit up, and (even thought the solder at the IR connection LOOKED fine, we resoldered it. (He knows how to do these things expertly). We screwed the unit back together and VOILA! it works perfectly now. Even if you don't know how to solder, if you brought it to a repair shop and told them exactly what the issue was and how to fix it - you can save your sanity and the unit. The solder joint I'm talking about is directly behind the IR on the front daughter board.

Onkyo receiver txds787 doesn't respond to remote

Pull the batteries out from the remote control, and leave it out until step-4
Press and release each and every button, one at a time on the remote control, until every button has been pressed and released at least once.
If the remote control have slide switches; move the switch to each position, then repeat the button pushing as in step-2. {When you've done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with.}
Put the batteries back.
Try the remote.
If it do not help you:
Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. Surf the site with patience.

Hi. my original remote for my onkyo tx ds575 all of a sudden is not working anymore. the red light on the remore still lights up when i press a button but the receiver is not picking it up. hopefully you...

The red light on the remote just means the battery is good and the remote is responding when you press a button. It doesn't mean the control is actually sending out a signal. Many retail stores have a tester that will tell you if the remote is transmitting. Another possibility is that the remote sensor in the receiver has gone bad, and that the remote is fine. A universal remote (One-4-All URC6131, for example) that can work home theater receivers can be used to test the receiver. It may not work all the functions, but if it turns the receiver on and off you'll know the remote is at fault and not the receiver. Then you'll be able to replace the remote or have the receiver serviced as needed.

How to program remote control?

Your Onkyo TX-SR304 receivers remote (RC-645S) is not capable of controlling devices by other manufacturers. It controls only Onkyo devices.
Other Onkyo remotes do have universal remote functionality and you can download Onkyo remote codes here.

I hope that helps.

Unit does not respond to remote control

I had this same problem with the Onkyo TX-SR706 this evening, and finally found the solution in the "Controlling Other Components" section of the manual: Resetting the remote control did the trick. (P.S. This problem started after I spent many hours today trying to get my new Acer laptop equipped with a Hauppauge TV tuner stick to correctly display its image on my Samsung HDTV, with sound. I tried connecting the laptop via HDMI first to the Onkyo receiver and then directly to the TV, neither of which worked as it should. I assume that somehow, in all those hours of much plugging and unplugging and fiddling around, I screwed up the remote sensor -- thank goodness I eventually found the "Resetting the Remote Controller" solution a little while ago -- I was approaching the point of ripping everything apart and throwing it out the window!)
