True HD - biggest secret
Are you playing a TrueHD format disc? Just like DTS 5.1 or any other format if your disc isnt coded in TRUEHD then your not going to get it. DTS or other formats cannot be "converted" to TrueHD like the video portion of a standard def disc. At this point there arent alot of TrueHD discs out but be paitent, this may change. Or not, due to the fact there are other "lossless" formats that may be more widely adopted. Sort of like DTS and THX were when DVD first came out. Hope this helps.

The HDMI is not outputting
Measure all hdmi inputs and output HPD Voltage by a needle probe.
(1)unplug the amp.
(2)open the cover.
(3)connect a blu ray player to hdmi input & a mon to output, otherwise no 5V.
(4)negative probe connected to the large heat sink with large power transistors mounted by a crocodile clip.
(5)postive probe to right hand side last pin called hot plug detect, HPD.
(6)If it has 5V, hdmi board is OK. Check HDMI cables(7)If no 5V, check power to this board. Go to you tube:How to fix an Onkyo receiver - TX-SR606 . All large capacitors next to SMPS IC are replaced.
(8) If not OK, replace Q 8595-Q8597.
(9)If not OK, replace Q8501,sil9135.(Onkyo won't help you to replace this HDMI decoding Chip. A HDMI board replacement instead, the company policy.)

Hello, I am sorry about your issue. Please plug the cable box into a known good HDMI port on the receiver. Confirm that there are no issues with the cable or plugs. Thank you, CB

No sound FM or digital out
Hello, I am sorry about your issue. I suggest that you reset the receiver. With the receiver on press and hold vcr/dvr and then press on/standby. When the display shows clear let go. The receiver will shut down. Unplug for 30 seconds. Plug back in and turn on. Test audio. This procedure will bring the unit back to factory defaults. If this does not resolve your issue I suggest contacting Onkyo at 800-229-1687 option #3 so that we can troubleshoot with you. Thank you, Onkyo USA
