Not very often, if ever. Here's a way to test the remote for operation. Turn on the camera on your cell phone. Aim the remote at the camera and hold down any button on the remote. If you see a flickering light coming from the remote, the control is working perfectly. Now hold down the button that doesn't work. If the light flickers, the TV sensor is bad. If the light doesn't work on the suspected button, then the remote is toast, but repairable.

I have a 2005 GMC Envoy with factory tv and cd player. Is there any difference in infared head phones and what would you suggest for teenagers?

Infared head have the best sound as there is less interference. Most factory system are one way or the other, infared or fm.

Emerson EWF2703 27" No remote will work on tv. Is it expensive to repair, I feel it must be within the tv and the receiving end of the infrared sensor. Any idea of the cost to repair it. Or any other ideas...

Could be your infared sensor has gone bad.or it might just need to be reset back to factory reset. If it was unplugged for a while before this problem arrose then then the reset is probably your solution. Hope this helps.

We have 2 Sylvania TV's. The remotes work on one TV but the other TV no longer recognizes the remotes. It gradually seemed to lose reception of the signal from the remote. Any ideas?

The tv has a infared remote eye located at the front panel. It is possible that the remote eye sensor has gone bad. You could try cleaning the remote eye lens. There might be debris that got inside the remote eye housing and is blocking the sensor. You could also try installing fresh batteries in the remote.

We have a proscan tv and the remote dosent work at all

try a universal remote or replace with new origional remote you can order. If no remotes work on tv, your infared sensor may be faulty

Infrared signal connects to tv etc but then dies

If the infared reciever on the reciever is that bad you might consider getting a Infared repeater (look on ebay, they are like $50. they work pretty well

Need to replace infared eye on 36AF41 Toshiba TV

Yes, the back needs to be removed and the main board slides out to gain access to the IR sensor. Usually, the sensor itself is fine, the connections can get broken. Try resoldering the 3 pins for the sensor first. That alone may resolve the problem.

Keep us posted.

The tv sensor is not working on my 42" lg lcd hdtv

Believe it or not...THIS WORKS!!!!

Look on the back of your set for an external remote jack. It should be the same size as a small headphone jack. If it has one, use a spare headphone plug or your headphones, and plug them in and out about 50 times. This will clean the tarnished contacts and make your remote sensor start working. Your remote sensor goes through a switch on this jack.

My remote control does not work

You could have a defective IR sensor in the tv set that sends the infared signal to the MIcroprocessor IC. These are something you cant just replace, as it needs to be trouble shot with a scope to see if theres a data signal comming out of the sensor and if there is it could be a bad solder connection somewhere between the sensor plug to the Main IC. Also could be the B+ that supplys voltage to the sensor. Unless you have had electronic repoair experience, You should have a pro assist you with this repair. Sorry I couldnt assist you more with this . Good Luck

TV changes channels itself

Have you checked to see if any of the front panel buttons are depressed and stuck??? this is a big problem these days?? I have also found the infared remote sensor to be bad on some sets that do crazy things all by them selfs.. A funny storry once i had was a customer called me after her mother called some goast finders as her maggy projection set would go on all by itself andf the channels would change and the volume would go up and down all by its self. funny thing I had a set just like thast in the shop at the time with the same problem and I scoped out the output pulse from the infared reciver on the set and that was putting out noise on the data line and caused the set to eratacly do all sorts of weird stuff. get the point?? its a stck button or the remote sensor is bad.
