Emerson EWF2703 27" No remote will work on tv. Is it expensive to repair, I feel it must be within the tv and the receiving end of the infrared sensor. Any idea of the cost to repair it. Or any other ideas what the problem might be. Thanks Marsha

Could be your infared sensor has gone bad.or it might just need to be reset back to factory reset. If it was unplugged for a while before this problem arrose then then the reset is probably your solution. Hope this helps.

Check to make sure that the batteries in the remote are new and that the batteries are installed correctly. Make sure there is nothing blocking the infrared receiver "eye" on the TV.
Check the remote for its infrared emission. If found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/Pull up older posts.
You have to check the remote control first, for its infrared emission, before confirming the infrared sensor inside the TV is defective. The LED you see lights up, when you push any button, is not a symptom of proper emission of infrared rays. Infrared rays comes from and infrared LED, fitted at the front end of the TV, and these rays are invisible to us. But you can check it, with a cellphone with camera option. If you wish to know more about how to check and repair a remote control, check the sites linked here.

Check the remote for its infrared emission first. Light up the LED at the top of the remote control, is not and indication that it works properly. The infrared LED is at its front end. Check it for emission. If you wish to get more details about how to check and repair a remote control, check the link sited bellow. If the remote control is OK, then the infrared sensor inside the TV is faulty. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ The infrared sensor will look somewhat like this, and can be located just behind the infrared reception window at the front panel of the TV. You have to open the TV to access it.
Check the infrared emission from the remote control. If it is OK, the infrared sensor inside the TV is faulty. To get more details about how to check a remote control, visit the site named 'Electro-help'. You can search for it either by Google or yahoo.
Hello
The remote sensor inside the front panel of your TV is faulty. This is a three terminal device, can be located just behind the infrared window at the front panel of your TV. You have to open your TV, and unscrew out the front panel circuit board to access it.
Hello
Check the remote contro for its infrared emission. You can check it with a cellphone with camera option. Put the cellphone to camera mode, and place the remotes' front end towards its lens, at about one feet away from it, and press each button on the remote control. If there is infrared emission from it, you can see its image on cellphone camera screen. If not check the remote control. Check the battery polarity. If it is alright, you have to open it to see whether there is any loose soldering points developed or not.
If ther is infrared emission from the remote, and still the TV doesn't respond to it, surely the infrared sensor inside the TV is faulty, and should be replaced with same type and number. OK.
