Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Bad Smell

The whole house smells dusty and musty after vacuuming. Even though every window is open and there is a strong air current. It is NOT an electrical fire type of smell. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Change filters. the filter inside the unit and the one on the side needs to be changed once a yr. (these are not to be washed, only the side filter if foam can be washed ). also flat belt change every 6 months and the v-belt once a yr.

Bosch vacuum smells

What type of smell are we talking about here?. If you are talking about an electrical smell that more or less just came from out of the blue you are likely talking about a burnt out motor. If you are talking about a musty smell you can buy vacuum cleaner deodorisers to help in this area.

Hoover S3765-040 vacuum cleaner. At high motor speed, starts to smell something burning. Opened the motor assembly; removed the motor from its housing; powered it; and see major sparking where the bushings...

You are correct, the motor is done. Look at your local vac store for a quality vacuum made by Sebo or Miele. Replacing motors in chinese made vacs is a waste of money as the whole product was made to last only a couple of years

I have a hoover mach 5 multi-chamber cyclonic vacum cleaner and it keeps getting hot and quitting.it's got a strong smell like something is burned when it gets hot also.

if its giving off that strong smell then the motor is bad. probably caused by not keeping the filters clean. on any bagless machine one has to clean the entire vacuum after almost every use to keep the unit operating correctly

My hoover smells of ammonia

Hello,
I too have a problem with a bad smell coming from my henry hound hoover, but thats probely because i haven't used a hoover bag. I took the cloth filter out, banged all the dust off, then sprayed it with 'RugDoctor' pet stain remover for carpets and upholstery. It still smells a bit, but not half as bad as befor. I have now ordered a reusable, zipable, washable cloth hoover bag especially made for Henry's. It cost £8.80 from ebay with free postage. Hope this helps Nikki.

Sweeper smells stinks whole house up when running

Several questions:
What does the smell seem to be? If rubber, check the belt and brushroll for free rotation. If a musty smell, check the bag, it may need replaced with a new paper bag. If it has an electrical smell, like hot insulation, then the motor needs checked.

I buy loads of Hoovers and always same problem. When I Hoover its a dusty smell and it stays around bag not full and check filter the Hoover is ok f couple days then this happens.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover F5881-900 Vacuum. It sounds to me that if you have a clean bag and filter, it sounds like you have dust in the motor section and it needs to be cleaned and or take a good blower and blow out the dirt or you may have a clog or dirt build up in the suction line and that might be causing the dusty smell. Please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or call the Hoover factory and ask for tech support. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Vacuum cleaner smell
Posted by lcw1 on Apr 20, 2008
Our Hoover Windtunnel has recently started emitting a bad odor when we use it. We recently bought a new house, and the previous owners had dogs, but the carpet was professionally cleaned before we moved in. I have replaced all of the filters and belts to no avail. At this point, I have to remove and rinse off all of the filters after every time I use the vacuum to prevent stinking up the entire house. Any suggestions?

I think you are right, if it is not the switch then it would be the motor. Does it smell bad like a burning smell? If so it is definitely the motor and then @ that point you may want to get an estimate for motor replacement, and keep in mind of what you spent on the vacuum versus what the cost of repair might be. My own rule of thumb is if it cost more than ½ of the price I paid for it then you have to decide – do I want to pay the repaired cost for the vacuum or do I want to purchase a new one. Just a suggestion... You may want to check with your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
