Replaced rf gain pot with new one still wont adjust runs wide open with hash and static in speakers to the point where receive is almost impossible to make out.transmit fine.have replaced several caps and diodes but no luck finding this problem....its not the antenna or mic try that already.
Put SWR meter between your antenna and output, test wave length receive/transmit, might need a ground plane or center loaded stick.
Could be transceiver relay, try clicking mic fast, it should click out as fast as you key the mic.

I was about to give up on this and decided to pull the pot back out. that when i found the problem.it was something on my part, it was making ground off the pot that was beside it tight squeeze.working great now...checked the other pot that i had pulled out to start with, it was bad.
