I just bought mine and ran into the same problem. The fix is easy. First you need to make sure that the software is correctly installed. I installed mine and when trying to connect, couldn't. I had the unit turned on.

a. Because of reading the manual, I turned off my calculator - reconnected it to the computer via the cable. Had the CD (Casio CD) in the drive. The computer reinstalled the software after it auto-turned on the calculator and it worked.
-------
b. Next time I ran into the problem. I had just had it connected to the computer and was editing a program. I exited the calculator and later tried to re-connect and couldn't.

I found that I had to make sure that the calculator is off. Also, you have to make sure that on the software (if it is open all the while) you hit the button at the left side window for the calculator that tells it to disconnect. If it is shown to be disconnected, the connect the calculator while off. It will auto-connect. The rest is easy.

When the calculator is on and you have a "No open File" message, and you have made sure that the wire is connected to both the computer and the calculator:

You exit onto the main screen; next, access the link menu, click on receive. Go to your Fa-124 program, and click on the small, (quite small) icon at the first left window's upper corner - it shows two computers connected. This established the connection and takes about 20 seconds to run.

How to open vnc file in my acer E1-571 laptop

A file with a .VNC extension usually is a settings file for a Virtual Network Computing connection. This allows a connection from one computer to another, or a remote access to either your computer or a remote computer. You can search online for compatible programs such as UltraVNC, TightVNC, RealVNC etc... Install this program then you should be able to open the .VNC file. If this is not the expected soultion, in other words, you do not want to connect to another computer, or have another computer connect to your computer, delete the file.

My ti-83 plus has OS problem

That happened to me a few years ago - my friend tried to give me his operating system, and my calculator was all locked up like that for a while. There's some kind of reset code - pressing some buttons while putting a battery in - but it's been a while, so I don't remember which buttons.
