Rechargeable batteries when not used should be recharged every few months to keep them "topped off." If not, they will continue to slowly discharge and their internal chemistry is not very tolerant of a prolong uncharged condition.

When you get your new battery make it your business to recharge it regularly even if you are not using item to prolong battery life.

My kindle fire is charged, but it just stopped working.Do these units just die after a few years?

My Kindle Fire has been working for many years.

Try rebooting by holding down the power button, ignoring the "Shut down" prompt until it turns off. Then press and hold the power button until it starts to reboot. Does it?

My Kindle Fire hdx 8.9 turn on. I pressed button for 40 seconds but it did not work.

Most Kindles only take a brief touch of the on/off button Have you tried charging it? Try plugging it in for a few minutes and then try to turn on. If it works while plugged in then leave it to fully charge. If it fails to hold the charge then take it with you to a place like Best Buy or Batteries Plus. That's the quickest way to get anew battery and be sure it's the right one. I'm sure either one of those could test the old battery before you buy a new one. You could also order one from Amazon.
I've had my Paperwhite for about 6 years, charged at least once a month and still haven't changed the battery.

Kindle is not charging have tried everything have not used for 4 years

Most electronic components running on batteries can't sit for long periods of time without the battery being charged or used. If it sits for too long, a regular charger can't bring the battery back up to life. The battery either needs a boost(one must be careful on how it is done) or the battery should be replaced with a new one. If you know some service shop with battery reconditioning equipment, take it to them and find out if the fee is affordable. Hope this helps!

Reset my kindle,

Dead battery. If you haven't charged it for several years it dies.
Unreparable although if you call kindle customer support they may give you a discounted price on a new or refurbished current model Kindle. They'll want your old one for parts.

WE HAVE TWO SETS ONE WORKS PERFECTLY WHEN CHARGING THE OTHER WILL NOT EVEN SHOW BATTERY AS CHARGING WITH EITHER CABLES. tHEY WERE PURCHASED aUG 2013 SO IT PRESUMED NOW OUT OF GUARANTEE.you please advise...

It is more likely either the cable or your are not using a Samsung charger for one. If you let their tablets get below 1% only a Samsung charger will recover the battery. In theory it should not be require but I have tested it a dozen times and every time switching to the Samsung charge for the next few charges makes it so any USB charger (under 2 Amps) will then work again.

Yeah, I think Samsung uses the standard 1 years warranty for everything. They are not exactly Weber or anything and do not provide long warranty periods.

My RCA 8" tablet for some reason has stopped charging properly. The device will flash a few different screens, but no charge. I tried to reset it but it did not work. What do I do?

Please check everything in the "charger chain"
The charger, the cable and all connectors. All connectors should be clean and shiny. When you think there could be some dust in one of the connectors, try to blow it out with a bellow photographers use. Don't try to remove anything with sharp or pointing things, You could break a contact or damage the connector. Check the charger, if it still is working (giving enough power) and check if there is not a weak place in the cable. Don't forget the connector in the tablet.

My tablet want come on what's wrong with it

I've had the same problem with my RCA 10 inch tablet. I have charged it, tried the hard reset, used different chargers and even different outlets, and held the power button on for 60+ seconds with NO RESULTS! My recommendation is to contact RCA, which is what I am doing, and request an immediate replacement if yours is still under the 1 year manufacturers warranty. If you look these tablets up, you will see (as I have found) that this is apparently a common problem with the tablets. Wish I had known that prior to purchasing!

Kindle keyboard won't turn on

Put it on charge for 30 minutes or so - the orange CHARGE light should light up.

Slide and HOLD the power slide to the right/ON position for a slow count of 30.
Ignore everything, just keep it held to the right for the complete count.

Now drink a cup of tea whilst it resets.

Now slide the power switch on again as normal - it should go to the Kindle Tree logo and then the boot bar come up and then everything will repopulate.
Let it alone for a few minutes as at remembers all your books and then all should be fine.

NOTE: Every 6 months the Kindle eReaders INDEX their content (it logs every single word in every single book) yes this eats the battery.
It's why they suggest never abandoning your Kindle for long periods of time.

You may also want to try a random search on the HOME page for "kjsdjhds" or something - if it says "5 books unindexed" use the down button to highlight those books and DELETE them. They are corrupted and can be downloaded again for free whenever conveninet to you.

My textbook 7p won't turn on

This tablet does t reset with the power button unlike other Android devices. When you hold down the on/off switch, it only drains the battery. If you see the color indicator still charging, allow a full charge. Then, only stay put and pulse the button for a moment quick and let it rest few seconds to try again and again. Only when u see a light coming out of the screen, and I recommend you do this with the power cord on, you hold the power switch down until the rebooting is iniciated. Let go til it is finish and see where the problem is. More likely, like mine, the Settings stop working and needs tune up for the CPU. Never leave an application running when closing your system. With or without internet connection.
