How do you rewhy is my brakes locking down while driving?how do i rest the abs system?

You have water in the brake system, it boils and applies the brakes.
Different size tires will set a trouble code, but not apply brakes.

Front brake locked up

sound like you have a brake caliper that has went defective.need to replace this item and should take care of the problem.because when you applied pressure to the brakes the brake caliper started to close so the brakes could tighten against the brake rotor to slow vehicle down and some times these calipers will stick down holding pressure on the wheel disc and cause the wheel to still have the brakes holding down the brake shoes against it not letting pressure to release from rotor and this is what caused it to stay locked up its not releasing to allow to allow wheel to spin free.best bet is to replace the brake caliper.you can pick one up at parts place or local junk yard and are not highly expensive but I would go with new one if possible. to insure this does not happen again this is very dangerous could cause you to have a accident so I would get fixed before driving again.safety first .hope this helps you out so I would replace the brake caliper and also put a new set of brake shoes on it.its not hard to put on easily fixed. thanks 10 zacks

2000 dodge ram 2500 driver side started to lock up and smell like it was burning I cooled it down with water and stop for about 15 min. started up again about 10 miles the pas side started to lock up...

Check that the calipers can slide freely on the mounting pins. Check brake pads for wear. AS the front and left front brakes run different circuits for fluid ,check for problems in the master cylinder.

You will need a brake inspection, the rear wheel cylinder could cause this or a whole new rear brake set

1993 Dodge Dakota, front left brake locks up on slippery roadways, does not pull to either side while driving?

you have a sticking caliper on that side or the oppise side is not working. since you did not mention anything about the rear brakes my guess is the rear brakes are wore out or out of adjustment, to test jack up with all four wheels off the ground and have someone gently move the wheels around one at a time and see if thel lock up at te same time as you slowly push the brakes down, if one locks up sonner than the others you have a problem with that brake system.

Locked gearshift, no brake lights

If you are SURE that the brake light fuse is good? If so, check the brake lamp switch above the brake pedal, see if it is somehow disconnected. Check for power, at both sides of the brake fuse...and, check for poweer coming into and out of the brake switch (when pushing the brake pedal) with a 12 volt testlight. If the brake fuse is good, and you have power coming TO the brake switch, and not out of it, you need to replace the brake light switch.
OTOH, the brake switch just might need a small adjustement, too...If power is at both sides.
Note that the brake light switch ALSO powers/releases the shifter lock solenoid. You cannot take it out of park without pressing on the brake pedal.
Hope this helps you solve your problem.
