Both power lights, the one on the front of the computer with the wifi indicator, the battery light, and the hard drive light, and the one at the top left of the keyboard next to the screen hinge, are blinking (slowly) blue. When I press the power button nothing happens. This occurs whether or not I have the AC adapter connected. Normally this would just mean that it's in sleep mode and pressing the power button would wake it up, but not this time.
Thanks, JD, I tried this but it didn't work. I held the power button down for at least 30 seconds. What I had to do, and finally got things working, was remove the batter (which I think is shot anyway), then hold down the power button for a time, and it did turn off. Temitope, Hard reset. Open computer, remove battery, hold power button down (((1 minute))), reinsert battery, reassemble laptop, push/hold power button a couple seconds.
2nd fix, try to boot laptop without hdd.(hard drive). Remove the hdd, then turn on the laptop.. then it can get into the bios.. reset the bios to the default setting, turn off the laptop, and then turn it on again with hdd reinstalled. This seems to be what works in the forums with this issue found in Asus laptops. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Okay, what does that light indicate? (hard drive activity, power plugged in, battery, etc). It most likely indicates a faulty power supply or damaged battery unit.
the beeps are possibly post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off.
make sure that your RAM and Cmos battery have secure dust free seatings
some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in
Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive
the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have secure dust free
connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all power and data leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure dust free connections and are not faulty a computer needs power and computer data to travel to and through every working device and have an end to work properly so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps
If you don't hear the hard drive spin up, it's more than likely that the memory sockets (one of the two) have gone bad. The other LED's are HDD, CD-ROM, and WiFi antenna on. Try running the laptop with only one memory chip installed - that'll verify it. Won't fix it, though. It's a very quick and easy fix for me but I'll have to get my hands on your computer: my email: [email protected].
Do you still have the power cord plugged in? There are indicator light s for Battery operation, power on, hard drive activity. If you just logged off but the laptop is stillpowered on, then there will be a light indicating that. If you powered off the laptop but left it plugged into a wall outlet, then there is a chrging indicator that will stay lit.
Ok the lightning bolt is your power indicator: solid green-charging, Flashing green-fully charged, flashing red-low battery, flashing red three times the once green-bad battery. the "trash can" looking one is your hard drive activity indicator it will flash while your hard drive is reading and writing.
