I alreay figured it out on my own! However, if you'd like to pay me the "premium" price maybe I could help you out. What a joke this site is. Anyone who pays for simple advice to a site like yours is a ****** or really has no knowledge of the internet that you scam their money out of them. What a deal, the general public answers all your questions for you and a couple of A-Holes collect all the money. Scum Bags!

Yes. SP is "Standard Play" and LP is "Long Play", while EP/SLP are short for Extended Play/Super Long Play respectively.

Unless this is available on the main front panel the speed of your recording from the SP- SLP- LP cannot be changed.
So try to see if the old remote can be rectified

Hi,you should have on your remote a button call rec speed or speed
or on the front panel behind the door...some vcr got only two speed choice slp and sp mode when you find the button speed pres rec and pause then change the speed you need..

How do I change the vcr to 'SLP' - it seems to be stuck on 'SP'. (There is no "speed" button on my remote.)

Use the remote to get into the setup menus. There may be an option to change tape speed when recording. Alternatively, when you press record on the remote (or deck), you may have option to change the tape speed there.

The VCR part of your deck may be able to playback, but not record in SLP mode.

Searched around for the manual for your machine, and though there are references to it, it appears that a manual / information page doesn't exist for the model # that you listed.

PVW-2800 is a commercial recording deck for BetaSP tapes. There is no wireless remote, and only one recording speed. Menu is only displayed on the "super" output.

Recording speed is the last item on the timer programming. SP or SLP. Some remotes have a button that will allow you to change the speed, when recording manually.
