Same problem Exact same issue here - i have a 42" LCD (42PFL360) and will often be startled by the sudden, loud, constant static that springs from the TV with no warning. It normally happens after being on for several hours but sometimes after only a short period. I wonder if it does any damage to the speakers given the high volume.....

Do you have to turn the TV off and then on again to get the sound prob to go away? Our sound problem happens 10 to 15 x per day depending on how long the TV is on.

check in your manual and follow instructions on updating the software. you download the file to computer then move it to a memory stick (USB), then simply insert it into the tv
If the unit has not previously had the PSU or Y-SUS boards replaced prior to this issue. Then it sounds like the voltages are off on one of those two boards. There is a process for checking those voltages and trying to adjust them. If those boards were recently replaced I would say the tech did not check voltage accuracy. But if it just happened out of no where go with the Y-SUS board as the problem. I say that because the unit powers on.
Yes,loud static usually comes from bad isolation of sound signal path so it's probably a frayed cable or a loose jack. Or if you're unlucky some parts inside have failed.
Try turning off different lights near the room or in the room that it is in. Our tv does that if the overhead light in our bedroom is on, it's a room right next to our living room.
this could be due to some static
please get your electrical point checked up 1st
is your tv hooked to watch television thru RF or AV
please have the interlink cables
if this does not help get back with more details
