Unit won't operate and there are 4 flashes on the red light.

Took off cover of control board and notice the red light flashes 4 times, stops and then flashes 4 times again. What does this indicate is wrong?

Two things- Clean the sensor rods or replace(cheap and easy with YouTube instruction video) and at the same time replace the main program chip (also a easy plug in chip). The whole repair takes two hours for a homeowner and costs about 50 bucks for a chip. These are easy an generally the flame sensor rod is the culprit. The code may also be the limit switch but try EZ and cheap first. See You Tube..

I bought an used RTG-74PVP-2 unit for $100 with a code 29... 4 BLINKS on the RED light. I flushed the system and it worked for an hour... so, found this thread and proceeded to clean the FLAME RODS.
When I got into the unit I could clearly see the top of the burners were dirty/covered with a nasty white crystalized powder... (wear protective gear).
The overall process took about an hour. If it happens again, I'll remove the unit and clean it more thoroughly on the bench, maybe even replace the heat exchanger.
So far it's working great.

note: Anyone with the ability to responsibly turn the gas off, a long Philips X-head screwdriver, copper wire brush, and a camera... you can do this fix.

What could be the problem when red ligth is flashing on the hot water tank control?

If its 1 blink every 3 seconds its normal operation.
Otherwise, this is the meaning of the various blinks:

No blinks = no poilet light (not enough power (in millivolts) to keep it lit.
2 flashes = insufficient voltage (in millivolts) to gas valve.
4 flashes = high water temperature (over heat sensor activated.
5 flashes = water temperature sensor failure.
7 flashes = gas control valve / thermostat failure.
8 flashes = Only occurs if the gas control valve or Temperature knob has been turned off And the thermocouple continued to produce electric power.
9 flashes = Combustion chamber temperature sensor open or shorted.
10 flashes = LDO occurrence was detected in the combustion chamber (contaminants).

The pilot light on the water heater went out and the red light is blinking four times on the thermostat (Honeywell WV8860B1317). How do I get this to stop so that the pilot light can be relit?

The flashing light 4 times indicates high water temperature has activated the over heat sensor, and that the only remedy is to replace the gas control valve/thermostat.

Whirlpool/Honeywell hot water heater light flashes 5 then 7 times and won't light. Burner is clean and all contacts are good. Out of warranted.

Copy following link to troubleshoot by type of gas control valve, including directions for cleaning air intake screen, and or replacing gas control valve:

7 flashes: Gas control valve might be bad.
4 flashes: FV overheat, clean air intake.
Soot indicates clogged air intake slowed combustion venting possibly causing overheating and lockout. Clean air intake screen located on bottom of unit.

Hi, My boiler is ecotec pro 24 recently i noticed that the green light in my boiler is does not switch off .It is on all the times even we are not using hot water and heater.

I believe my gas furnace has a light on at all times on the control board. You may find an instruction/troubleshooting sheet on or in the sheet metal covers explaining the light and other blinking lights (if trouble occurs).

Unit flashes the number 20

A 20 error code means the high limit switch is being tripped. This is most typically caused when scale develops in the heat exchanger. I'd recommend performing a descale on the heater to resolve the problem. Make sure to follow the instructions that came with your isolator valve kit.

Me too

1.Not an expert with natural gas furnaces.
2.Statements below are from my own personal experience, and knowledge from.

The red blinking light you see is on a computer control board. The flashes of the red light represent a type of code. Think of it as a Morse Code, if you will.

For example: Red light blinks three times rapidly, pause, then blinks one more time. This code represents a particular fault. (Fault = Problem)

There is a sticker, with a chart of codes listed for this red light. It is usually placed very near the red light.

A gas furnace should be repaired by a competent HVAC technician. This is not a device that should be attended to, by those who are not trained.
An HVAC technician will know where to look, what parts are needed, and if the gas furnace is safe enough to put back on line. (Safe enough to use)

High water temp

Have you done a reset on the board?

The reset function is used to restart the Temperature Control System after an error condition has been detected and
corrected.
Reset the control by pushing the red reset button on the controller. After a reset, the control performs self diagnostics
before normal operations begin. This takes approximately 10 minutes.

Then do the following if the flashes don't stop.

1. Make sure upper and lower access doors and insulation are
properly in place
2. Check element circuits for resistance of 5 - 25 ohms
3. Replace element if necessary and reset control system

I have a digistat scr with a flashing red light and no heating there is nothing wrong with the batteries, this only occured after a poweer cut.

Try this first before condeming the unit.

1. Turn off the power supply to the Digistat SCR (receiver unit)
and leave for 5 seconds.
2. Turn on power to SCR unit and check red light is on.
3. Press override button No.2 and check the green light comes
on and boiler fires.
4. Press & hold down button No.1 (Keep depressed), then
press No.2 and keep depressed. {The Red LED light will flash
a couple of times and then it will go out}
5. Now release both the buttons – {the two LED lights should
come back on}
6. Get the Digistat+2RF/+3RF unit and stand two metres away
from the SCR unit with the Digistat+2RF/+3RF unit in your hand.
7. Remove the battery cover and fit the batteries.
8. The Red LED light on the SCR will now flash for approx. 7
seconds.
9. This confirms that the radio signal is being sent and
received.
10. The Digistat+2RF/+3RF and the SCR are now successfully
linked by a dedicated RF address.

Fault light flashing 1 flash per second

Prior to writing the above fault I had asked the owner to turn the boiler temp controller , for the heating side, down just a fraction . I was phoned this morning to tell me that the boiler had stayed on allnight with no fault light . After consulting with the plumber who fitted the system it appears that there might not be a room stat ,
