Dont think it has a setting in the bios as to on or off. you didnt say what os you have on the machine. asuming it is xp navigate to control panel, sounds and audio you will find advanced button look and see if it's muted if so uncheck muted. next show volume icon on toolbar checked apply this. under the audio tab you can adjust the volume here also. next ime you can go to the same propertys page by clicking the spkr horn on the right side of the taskbar.

The internal microphone on my 5920G is permanently active, hence when I close the lid, I get feedback through the internal speakers. How can I cure this?

You should be able to mute the microphone in audio properties in control panel (Details differ according to Operating System)
I hope that helps

Acer aspire 5920 running vista has built in mic not working

Hey,

It is all because the Microphone is not set as a default device to start recording.

Its like your computer has no device for recording even if the computer has connected with Mic.

Just change the settings and enjoy..!!!

Might your switch be non-functioning? Can you check that independently?

Otherwise, sounds to me like you did eveything.

Same thing happened to me with my dog once. I let him out and that was it! :-)

Hi, Meens here In my Acer Aspire 5920 Vista home preimum getting weird sound frm inbuild microphone after swtich on n the sounds stops after plugging headfons :(

The usual cause of microphone noise is caused by audio settings where the microphone gain may be turned up to high causing it to pick up noise from the computer or built in speakes. This can cause noise ranging from an odd hum to a high pitched squeal.

Check your sound setting first

How to turn-on/function mic in my acer aspire one pc notebook?

To test the microphone, click "start" button, then "Control Panel", then "Sounds and Audio Devices". On the popup window that opens, click on the "Voice" tab, then click on the button that says "Test Hardware". After several seconds this will bring up a test program that will show a noise level meter when you're speaking into the microphone. (The default device listed under voice recording should be "Realtek HD Audio Input".)

My acer aspire 5920 is making alot of noise the built in microphone does not seem to turn off

ok i had the same problem up until today and i found a post on a site that really helped me out i had this problem for about two months and was very close the sending it into acers repair center but all it was, was a setting in the audio manager ok here is what you need to do go to control panel, then go to hardware and sound, and then go to manage audio devices under sound then go to recording then click on microphone and go to properties, then go to levels and you should see two settings microphone volume and and microphone boost if your microphone boost is set to +20 which it prolly is just slide it down to zero and wow your problem is fixed. Im not really sure what program might change this setting but acer should really check into it and your system shouldnt let programs change things such as this cause this is a very important setting for having a wonderful entertainment experience. well i hope this helps and all the credit here goes to original poster at http://wynddancer.livejournal.com/22092.html
