Video error. If not already done, update the graphics driver. Try booting in VGA mode, if no joy then try booting to safe mode and uninstalling the graphics driver leaving the windows "vanilla" driver. I
but bootup with the Win2K CD in the Drive and after the files are loaded at the first screen select install then after it detects the OS select R (Repair) and this will reinstall the operating system files and then you can use the system as before though u may have to install the device drivers and motherboard drivers
for any other clarifications u can place a comment in the same question or u can mail me at [email protected]

Try to download a widows XP based driver for your Promise Controller from the manufacturer's website and install it.
This is really necessary.
If it does not solve the problem, you reinstall windows XP.
When XP begins installtion it flashes a message like this:
"Press F2 to install a third party driver......"
Press F2 and insert the Promise controller driver in a floppy.
This way it will work. (I hope so..)
Note: Do not remove floppy untill Windows finishes installation
These drivers do not work.
