Uniden 796d was trying to program trunk line pushed mutltablr buttons now wont turn on

Try this:

KEYLESS ENTRY PROGRAMMING

Have all remotes for the vehicle on hand.

Make sure all the doors and rear hatch/trunk are closed during programming.

Only need to use 1 remote to get into program mode but all remotes must be programmed during the same session.

Each step must be completed within 5 seconds.

1. Sit in the car with all doors/trunk tightly closed

2. Turn the key to the ON position, marked by "II" on the ignition bezel so the dash lights come on, then within 5 seconds press the "Lock" button on the remote for 1 second or so and release the button.

3. Turn the key to the OFF position, marked by "I" on the ignition bezel - dash lights go off.

4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 three more times (A total of 4 times) - each step must be done within 5 seconds of the previous step.

5. Upon the 4th turning of the key to "ON", press the lock button on one remote, the locks will make a cycling sound (clunk), locks will NOT lock or unlock at this point, they will just make a noise. The system is now in programming mode. Do not turn key off.

6. Within 5 seconds of entering programming mode and within 5 seconds of each other, press the lock button ON EACH remote you are programming, for a second or so and release. This step needs to be completed within 10 seconds. Each time a remote button is pushed, the locks should cycle. Up to 3 remotes can be programmed.7. Turn ignition completely off and remove the key. Step out of car and close door. The remotes should be programmed and should work. If you have a trunk/hatch release, the button for this feature needs to be held for a few seconds before the trunk/hatch will "pop".

I don't have answer for defective timer. Buy another timer if everything below checks out:

To check, change and delete specific programming, press PROG key until selected program displays, and then set new programming >>> or press-and-hold MODE button and press PROG button again to delete selected program.

Review wiring:
Hot to timer black.
Neutral to timer white.
Load to timer red.
Ground to timer green.

Lights will blink if timer red and timer white are connected to load together.
Timer will not function if timer black and red wires are reversed. Display will not show.

LTR systems must be entered in a specific order so that channel 1 is 1st, channel 2 is 2nd etc...
Are you sure that the BCT8 tracks LTR systems? A Radio Shack PRO 92 tracks all 3 trunking systems (analog) including Motorola and LTR, while some Uniden only track 1, and some don't do trunking systems at all.

To program:

Turn on radio.

It will be in scan mode. Press Manual (orange button) to stop scanning.
Press Manual button to step through channels to get to the one you want.
(Or press channel number and then manual button)

If "LockOut" is displayed it means this channel isn't being "Scanned."
Pressing Lockout will toggle the status.

To program:

Select channel. Use keypad to enter frequency. Use "E" for Enter
key. If the radio displays an E this means Error. Usually, the
frequency you typed in is outside of the capabilities of the scanner.

Once you hit the E you will immediately start hearing anything that's
out there on the frequency you entered.

Push the "Review" button and the scanner will display the frequency
that is programmed for the channel. A "-" will be displayed for the
decimal point.

hello. To turn the ringer off on that phone you need to get into the menu. The way you get into the menu is press and hold the menu/cid button for 2 seconds. Then press the arrow down button until you highlight the ringer volume. once the ringer volume is highlighted, press the select/channel button. that will rotate you through the 3 available volume levels. High, low and off. as you are pressing the select/channel button the handset sounds a sample of the volume level. when you hear the volume level you want simply press end and that will store your volume to the off position. to turn it back on, just repeat the above steps but select the proper volume level you want and then hit end. if all the channels are 000.000 then it wont scann youll have to hit manual then enter a freq then hit the "e" button. once you hit manual youll be able to push the up and down arrows to select an channel you wish to imput a feq. Hope this helps.

danval, I looked up a pic of your scanner and it is pretty straightforward. If it is the 16 channel I was looking at, here is the step by step programming.
1- Push manual button to go to the channel you want to start programming.
2- Enter the freq number in.
3- Push the E button to enter it in the memory.
4- To review what you programmed, push the Review button.
5- Use manual button to step to next channel and start over from #2
That should get you started with the scanning hobby.
The scanner has a Priority button that when activated will stop scanning and go immediatly to the priority channel if someone keys their mic.
