SOURCE: cannot charge camera
Okay, the same thing happened to me. I ordered a new battery and that was not the problem since the same blinking light was haunting me! So I bought a wall charger for the battery alone and then it worked again on the original docking station. Apparently it will not recognize a completely dead battery on the docking station. It makes no sense but it worked for me. So good luck to you!

Hi Lynette.
If the camera is not taking pictures you may be in one of the following situations.
Test if the camera is working. If the camera is not taking pictures the camera may be in standby. Try the following:
The flash may still be charging. Check if the flash lamp is blinking. If the flash lamp is blinking wait until the flash is charged completely. The lamp will stop blinking.
Make sure there is no cable (USB or AV) connected to the camera.
The camera uses an internal backup battery for clock and other functions. The clock battery is recharged along with main battery. Leave the camera connected to charger for longer. Let say a couple of hours.
If after charging the battery the camera works normally, shooting pictures that are stored in the memory card and allowing to control the lens, but there is no display and no menu shown on LCD panel, then the no display problem is not related to the old battery problem. In that case the problem is usually a defective LCD display. Try first all the rest and try resetting the camera by removing and reinserting battery.
Regards.
