Some of these talking watches have 2 batteries, one for the voice and one for the hands, the one for hands is underneath the talking part. A lot of people don't know this and, just change the top battery. All watch batteries are the same voltage but the better brands tend to last longer, a good Swiss battery is the way to go.
The more you use the talking function the more power you, will use
Same thing happened to me, took watch to watch shop, they changed the battery and the chimes stopped working. Simple fix, the faceplate was put back on wrong. Unscrew the face plate and turn it upside down (or right side up depending on your POV) the circle on the inside of the faceplate will line up with the springs inside the watch and the chimes will start working again. If you have a pair of eyeglasses screwdrivers, like I did, you can do this yourself.
All watches are preprogrammed for all the functions, so, there is no possibility to make it glow for longer or continuously unless you press and hold the light button or just repeatedly push it again and again. Do not forget that prolonged use of light function will shorten watche's battery life significantly.
As you are not watchmaker, you definitely lost coil spring, which is transmitting sound signal from watch's movement to the sound membrane. This happens very often with people who do not know how the watch is built. No worries, though. Any nearest watch repair shop can fix it. Rate me, plz.
HI
SEE EVEN AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY --BACKLIGHT IS NOT WORKING THEN THE PROBLEM MAY BE DUE TO THE DAMAGE OF THE Light is electromagnetic radiation WHICH CAUSE THE BACKLIGHT DISPLAY . THIS CAN'T BE SLOVED BY OURSLEVES SO IT IS GOOD TO APPROACH AN AUTHORISED SERVICE CENTER..I HOPE YOU ARE IN THE WARRANTY PERIOD.
This is a common problem when non watch educated people are changing battries themselves. The answer is simple: While changing battery and handling the watch you did lost the coil spring. It is so small, you will never notice that the something was dropped. Coilspring is the connector to the sound membrane of the watch, transfering microprocessor signals to audible membrane. If it's lost, there is no connection between watch movement and audio membrane. I suggest that you did change batteries yourself previously and had the same outcome (no sound). Next time you gonna change the battery - make sure you do not turn the watch upside down and if you do - check the movement with eyeglass and make sure all the loose fitted bits are in place. To get your both watches fixed visit your nearest watch repair shop and ask for coilspring to be fitted.
The 2 most common reasons for a watch to not work after a battery change are:
1) The circuit is not functioning properly. 99% of the time it is not efficient to have this fixed. It almost always needs to be replaced when this is the problem.
2) The oils in the watch have either become thick like car oil, or thin and now the metal parts are causing too much friction.
The 2nd problem can be fixed by having the watch serviced. Servicing is usually between $50 and $100 for Fossil's depending on where you go. This may not be efficient since most Fossil's are less than $150.
Stores that service watches are Tourneau and Precision Time:

This sounds like a simple battery replacement. Depending on how low the battery is usually pressing the light button and the display goes dim or blank is a good indicator of this. Takes a CR1616 battery and be careful of the spring inside and make sure the seal is in the correct position. You will need to touch the AC button and the back of the battery with a pair tweezers for a couple of seconds to reset the watch. Put the case back on and set the watch thru the functions.
never replace a 1.5 cell with a 3volt, it will damage the movement...and besides, replacing with a higher voltage will not make it last longer or run 'better'...it only needs 1.5volts to function properly
