I hit the eject button and the drawer opened, but my disc was not there

I did a backup and put in the disc that it asked for. When it was finished I hit the eject button. The drawer opened , but there was no disc there. I have opened and closed it several times, but still no disc.

It will take the removal of the CD drive and opening the case to dislodce the CD from the spindle.

SOURCE: Cd drive closes too quickly

if there is a problem with the eject mechanism on the drive, ie some dirt/damage, it may be ejecting up to the point where the dirt blocks the eject. The motor senses this, and then retracts the tray, to prevent damage to it.

Also, you may want to do a manual eject on the drive - get a paperclip, straighten it out, and check the front of the drive for a tiny hole - approx 1mm. With the system power off, push the straightened paperclip in through this, and you should feel some resistance, but if you carefully push against this, the drawer should manually eject. Once it starts to eject, you can carefully pull the tray out with your hand, and remove the CD. Just power on the unit again, and the tray should retract from wherever it was.

To test the drive further, go to your BIOS screen (normally F1 or DEL or poss f10 on boot) - don't change any settings here - then try ejecting the drive. If it ejects cleanly, I'd suspect software. If not, as the OS hasn't loaded yet, this will rule out spyware/viruses etc - it'll make it a hardware issue.

If you're handy with a screwdriver, you may be able to remove the drive, take the covers off, and check the gears inside. Warning - this can be fatal to the drive, so be careful, but you might just see the crud inside that's stopping it working.

SOURCE: i have a samsung r60plus

Once there was a virus that was written to do that deliberately.. Do you have up to date anti virus? May pay to run a scan. There appears to be no problems with these notebooks reported on the net, so seems unlikely it's a common fault. On some notebooks you can remove the dvd/cd rom drive, so does your manual say anything about that? It may be a case of removing it & re-seating the drive. Good luck.

get a large needle or pin and you will see a little hole near to where the eject button is, if you insert the needle or pin and push it the tray will eject :)

SOURCE: disc drawer constantly opens and closes

This problem occurs when your drive try to read but connot get any thing. so there are two possibility
1> that your lens is not working or its fail. to solve this try lens cleaner cd and if then also not solved than your lens is no more working.

2>Other thing is that when it try to close the tray it might stuck little out so push it properly and than check it.

Cant open dvd drawer

Sometimes DVD player drawers get stuck closed because the disc inside isn't seated properly. At other times the player may have another problem. The first step in discovering if it is the disc or another issue is to remove the disc. Most DVD players have a secret eject button. It allows you to open the drawer when a disc gets stuck and cannot be ejected normally.
For this you'll need a standard size paperclip.

  1. Unfold the paperclip and make it as straight as possible.
  2. Look closely at your DVD player . Push the tip the paper clip into the small hole on the tray cover on the front of the Toshiba. The hole is on the right side of the cover.
  3. Press inward gently with the paperclip until you feel a slight resistance, then continue pushing to engage the internal eject button. The tray should pop open partway.
  4. Gently pull the drawer until it's fully retracted. Be careful not to pull too far.
  5. Remove your disc from the drive.
  6. Before you reinsert another disc, use the remote and/or buttons on the player to close the door, and reopen it. You can also press carefully with your fingers. If you cannot open/close the drawer normally at this point, do not put in a new disc until you have repaired the problem.

DVD drawer will not open - stuck dvd inside

My only suggestion is to press and hold the eject button for a period of time (15 - 30 seconds). This might unlock the drawer. If not, I would contact Bose Customer Service directly.

I asked for free help in ejecting my cd from my Kenwood DV-505. I have already reset the microchip to factory setting and have unplugged it for 5 minutes and then simultaneously held down the open/eject...

Normally on the drawer that you use to put in the CD there is a very tiny hole, look closely for it. Take a paperclip and straighten it out, insert it into the hole and push. This should help open the door. You might have to pull the drawer out the rest of the way but you should be able to get it out.

Look at the door of your DVD shutter. There might be very small hole. This is an emergency Shutter open point. Make off your player, insert a long pin inside the hole, press it gently, you will notice that the shutter is openning, pull it out side, and take off your data DVD from the tray.
