You may have the vcr connected via a video cable from vcr av out to tv av in. If this is the case you should have an rca type audio out on the VCR and a audio in on the TV the plugs are Red and White color coded. THe video is usually yellow color coded. You may have an rf out on the vcr you need a tv cable from this to the TV antenna in port
if using this connection with a video cable instead of a 75 Ohm tv cable. the impedance is different and this could be another cause of your problem. The cables look identical but are different electrically.

SOURCE: VCR WILL NOT PLAY

The problem is the tape mechanism is malfuctioning. It trys eather to load or play a tape and a sensor inside tells the microprocessor to shut down this mechanism before damage is done to the tape. BUT sometimes a malfunction causes a damaged tape too. this unit has NO user serviseable parts inside itself, so its time to take this puppy into a repair shop to see if its worth the repair , Unless this units more then a few years old?? then its time to buy a shiny new unit. Good luck

SOURCE: Rolling picture

Not likely. They probably just need to be cleaned and re-alligned. Rates vary, but our shop charges $20 to do that.

SOURCE: LG V8824w DVD/VCR no video

rtfm.
Once the setting for progressive scan output is entered,
an image will only be visible on a progressive scan
compatible TV or monitor. If you set Progressive Scan
to On in error, you must reset the unit.
1) Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc
tray. See that "NO DISC" is displayed on the display
window.
2) Press STOP and hold it for five seconds before
releasing it. The video output will be restored to the
standard setting and a picture will once again be visi-
ble on a conventional analog TV or monitor.

My vcr plays commercially-recorded tapes fine, but tapes recorded on it or another VCR play with the sound distorted. The picture seems fine.

Sounds like its mechanism need some alignment. Guide pole alignment. Contact any service technician. This is technically skilled work. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Video on my Sony VCR (SLV-780HF) goes gray after playing a tape a few seconds. What could be the problem?

The only real cure will be to clean the video head. If that doesn't work then I'm afraid that whatever recorded you EP mode tape was not set up well tracking wise. So other machines struggle to track the tape. Some VCR's will only playback SP or LP tapes and don't have EP mode. In which case you should check to see if these VCR's can play the EP tape and if they can't find one that can.

Have no sound from VCR, cable hooked up properly, picture is great. TV is brand new.

Connect RCA cables yellow, white and red from VCR to TV. White and red are sound. Select TV input where VCR cables are connected using TV remote. Try different tapes. Turn up volume on TV.

No sound when playing a tape in the rca vcr player

If it's connected with a scart cable, then there may be a bent pin or broken wire.
