When I put a disc in my into the player it the screen read loading for about 2 minutes then the screen show NO DISC. You can hear the DVD turning in the DVD player. The DVD DISC does work in other DVD players. Any ideas on what might be wrong?
SOURCE: DVD Player stops reading disc Error message :
usually this happens when lens cannot read the the disc. Due to few reason
1 Your disk is scratched
2 Your DVD lens is covered with dust
3 You need to replace DVD lens
Try another few CD/DVD to rectify whether there is any problem with dvd you are trying to play
if this error occurs on all the dvd you played then the most likely proble is with your DVD lens
either its coverd with dust use Disk cleaner if not you got to replace a new DVD lense as per model

After variety of different tests and findings I have resolved this issue. It appears that the DVD burner was not in good working order and the DVD player was not at fault. Thanks you to all who answered and responded to my problem. Many thanks.

Hi mgarragh1, Ifyou already cleaned the lens, and confirmed
that the ribbon is good as well as the motor then I would advice you to send it
to repair shop because the next step should be done with an expert because it is quite
technical diagnosing the fault between the pick-up lens and the main board.
If you have necessary tools and test instruments,
know safety precaution in basic troubleshooting try the steps below to solve
your problem.
Assuming that the disc is good.
1.Clean the lens. -
Sometimes because of dust the lens can't read any disc. Try clean the lens by
soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this.
2.Replace the ribbon - Check
the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch,
damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the
disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser. If you've done the steps
above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little
knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.
3.Check the motor - Check
the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the
ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.Good motor - reading
should be fairly high and it will spin. Bad
motor- reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.
Hint : 50% of my
repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.
If you confirmed that you have a defective motor
then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to
check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should
be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is
too far or too close.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

I'm having the exact same problem. I tried playing a CD, and it works with that. For some reason it can detect CD's, but not the DVD's. We've tried cleaning it, and it didn't help.
Screen lights up. Says loading for about 2 minutes and then says "no disc".
We have the same [email protected]
Hi guys, I have got the same problem. I found one of the cause: the drive seems to be disabled because the disk does not turn. check your unit, notice the location of the disk by putting the text strait. Close it then try to load. The disk should turn, then the lable location will have change. Open the unit, you will notice that the disk did not turn. I opened my unit and I jumped the cd motor drive to check if the motor was good: verdict it is good. For some reason the power does not reach it through the electronic card... I was happy with the unit: good sound, good image, small... I would like to put it back online...
Any idea on how to make it works
.
I have the exact same problem. White strip does not seem to be stretched. I can hear the motor trying to spin, but the disc does not seem to rotate, so maybe it is internal. Is it coast effecttive to repair or just replace?
