Computer may or may not start up. When it does, it may or may ..

My computer just recently had a change. I would stop. The hard drive light would go off. The computer and everything would be froze. All the fans are working. All the diagnostic things seem to be ok except for the Windows Startup Repair service, it says it cannot repair what is wrong. Then, after I usually get the Windows Startup Repair to do its thing, the computer will load windows and I can use it again. For a while. No telling when it will stop. I have gone through the computer and cleaned it up and watched it running with the cover off. Seems like everything is working, all the fans, nothing getting too hot.

I have reimaged my computer five or six times to original factory settings to remedy this. This last time is the most solid I have had. However, before I go for the hard drive, is it the hard drive. Or, is it the power supply possibly?

thank you for the quick response! I will. I was teetering between whether it was hard drive or power supply. Much appreciated!

Go with a known good working hard drive, its the easiest thing to replace and instead of reimaging it, install windows from scratch and then load the drivers for whatever it doesnt find and then see how it runs, if the lockups stop happeneing then load the apps that you want and everything should be okay.

Hi. Sometimes, there are compatibility issues on external drives. Most recent computers will read them while others may not. Either the external casing or the cable is causing this.

Hi,
Restart the Laptop and press F8 you will get a option that sayd repair my computer select the option,
If repair mu Computer doesn't work than go to BIOS and check if the Hard drive is detected in BIOS or not and than perform Hard drive test in BIOS there is utility which will allow to perform the test of hardwares.
If Hard drive is detected in BIOS nad Hard drive test passedthan you need to reinstall the windows.
If Hard drive test failed or it is not reflected in Windows than replaced the hard drive and install OS on new hard drive.

Computer does not start

Before we begin we?ll need some more historical information: -Was this a functional computer that just stopped working or is this something you?re building? -If this was a working computer were any new programs, hardware, drivers or updates anything that changed recently? -Have there been any recent error messages?
