If the computer is on, check to see if there is more that one input for the monitor. Monitors can have multiple inputs. There should be a way to access an on screen menu from the buttons on the monitor. Try different inputs.

are you in dual screen mode? Also, check the input method (HDMI 1/2) in the monitor is correctly selected.

The problem is either the video graphics card in the computer or the monitor, if you have a backup monitor check the computer first, if the same problem persists the video graphics card is bad. If however the second monitor is fine, then your monitor is the problem, The screen is breaking down, if you have a detachable video cable, sub it for another to make sure there are no issues,if okay your monitor is the problem and not cost effective for repair.

May I suggest that you visit YOUTUBE to search and view some video clips of VALID (good) "lcd monitor disassembly" and / or "lcd monitor repair" ??? maybe a short circut happened and fried your monitor's decoding unit... There probably is nothing you can do to fix it and you can't really do anything with it other than trashing or potentially expermenting with the thing, but bewarned, It may jump back to your laptop...

Hi, maybe DVI cable or port is faulty, to test you could use VGA port , in the following picture you can see installation of monitor.

try setting it to 1200x800 and see if it blanks out
