How do i get a picture the right size to fit on my social media page?

The picture jpeg image has to be less than 50K. I can get it down to 54K by reducing it with paint, but my photo gets tiny and the size is still too big and the site will not let me upload the photo. If i type in the pixel size 161x204 that the site recommends the overall size is like 78K and it will not upload. How do I get it to fit?

Hi,
if you have a photo in jpeg format then it is possible to save it in jpeg format too but changing the parameter "JPEG quality factor" from 100% to 80% for example. The pixels of photo will be the same but the size smaller. I usually use Microsoft Photo Editor application on my Windows PC:
1- open file
2- save as ...
3- choose jpeg format
4- press button "more"
5- change jpeg quality factor %
6- press save

Bye

SOURCE: how to reduce file size of photos for uploading onto a website

You should have a setting on the camera with the option of picture quality and size. Select fine quality rather than super fine. Then you should select the size, small, passport, medium, postcard, large and widescreen are the usual terms. But somewhere it should give the actual size in dimensions e.g 640x480. This is the size i would recomend for downloading. When you download the images from the memory card make sure that when you are asked Where you want to save them you also check which format they are being saved as!! Save them as a jpeg and not a bitmap image as this is the most common used by websites. If you need to resize an image you already have on the pc,click on it and then right click, you should then have an option to "open with" and you can choose from many different applications.I find the easiest and quickest is" Paint" It will then open in the paint programe, goto image at the top of the page and click resize. you can then choose what size you like. Bear in mind that resizing affects quality although you can adjust virtually anything with the paint software.

I can view some pictures but for others I get unsupported media format. All pictures are Jpeg. why some can be viewed but not all?

The JPEG's that won't display are probably too high a resolution or the file size of the image may be too high. If you are using sandisk Sansa for instance you can use the Sansa Media Converter to change (lower) the resolution of the images, or you can use other software to alter the images.

My Kodak Easyshare DX7630 no longer takes 6.1 megapixel images!

This happens all the time.

Don't confuse pixels with bytes. JPEG files are compressed so as to tale less disk space. 1.5 to 2MB is just about right for 6MP pictures.

I have a datatraveler 4gb stick how many photo will it hold

That is not exactly to calculate. It depends on the stored image sizeand quality.
Small pictures could be 400KB a piece, but large ones easily can go up to 6GB
a piece. If you know thye avaerage size of your pictures, you can calculate it.

How do u download pic 2 wprofile on web site

Hi!

Just what exactly are you trying to do. Your picture to be uploaded and become the profile picture in a website profile page (like Facebook or yahoo or gmail)?

First of all you need to save the picture as jpeg format (recommended format for image and picture.
You will need to shorten the image size of the picture. Because most of picture uploader needs at utmost 150 kb size of the image file. (In case your picture exceeds the allowable size.. there is a free software that you can use to cut the image size of your picture (like Image Resizer program)

Just post back if you still have some question.

thank you for using Fixya

WHAT IS THE EXPANDABLE MEMORY CAPICITY OF EX-Z550?

Theoretically unlimited. You can shoot until you fill an SD/SDHC card, then swap it for another card, and so on.

As for how many pictures will fit on a single card, that depends on the size of the card, image size and image quality settings, and the subject of the picture (a picture of a blank wall will take less memory than a picture of a field of colorful flowers). You'll find some guidelines on page 175 of the manual.

Slow down your shooting. The "R11" indicates that you can take 11 more images before the buffer is full and the camera will stop functioning until the images are moved to the memory card.
Select a smaller file size. Nikon cameras allow you to select from several sizes of JPEG as well as a RAW and a RAW + JPEG file. These files vary in size. If you select a smaller file size, the buffer will take longer to fill, allowing you to shoot longerTurn off long exposure noise reduction. This function causes the camera to expose twice for every image, and this can fill up the buffer quickly as those images are processed and written to the card.

    Image quality in MS Word

JPEG is a raster image. Every pixel is identified to the computer.
MS Word is resizing the picture to make it fit. When it does this it causes pixels to disappear. This is why you will get blocky images and or unreadable text.

    The Solution is

Re size the image and bump the dpi to at least 300. This will add enough pixels to where you won't notice the stair step.

The professional way to do it is with Vector images. This is difficult to do if you are using a photograph. You will need to plot the image out (basically re draw it with lines and bucket fills)

    Hope this helps you.
