Why GE model JE2160SF03 power turned off

After I replaced the fuse, power is back on. But when I open the door, first it trips the breaker. Reset the breaker, the microwave is on but when the door is open the power is off. What causes this.

SOURCE: I have a GE Microwave

Somehow you have a short somewhere or the door catch switch(s) contacts got damaged. If you are mechanically inclined, you can start by unpugging the unit and removing the case so you can inspect the door switch(s) assembly. Determine what is "normally open" and "normally closed" on the switch(s) and then Ohm them out with a multi-meter. Some of the switches are mounted on adjustment screws for propar contact on the door catches.

SOURCE: GE microwave (Model JE2160SF03) trips breaker when door opened

Remove the control panel, take pictures of the door switch wiring while they are still connected to the door switches, then remove the door switch assembly. Have someone at the appliance store check each switch and repair the ones that are defective.

I purchased a switch for $7, reinstalled the door switch assembly and the microwave is working fine now.

Opening the door tripped breaker a few times, now microwave will not power on.

Sounds like a bad switch should have three primary, secondary, and monitor switch after 5 years change all 3 they are not the same primary and secondary are NO ( normally open ) and the monitor NC ( normally closed ) unit will not come on the fuse on the filter board is blow this usually shorts out the filter board change the switches first and replace fuse may not have to replace filter board hopes this helps.

We have a GE Profile microwave and every time we open the door it trips the breaker. We turn the breaker back on and use the microwave and as soon as the food is done cooking and we open the door - bam,...

For a breaker to trip, you have to have an over voltage condition that is usually referred to as a short. Since your unit works in the cook cycle and only trips the circuit breaker when you open the door the short has to be in the door latch switch or reset circuit. So it wouldn't be that hard to repair, but since it is 7 years old and not the most energy efficient unit, if you aren't able do the repair yourself, then I would replace it!

You can get an idea of how hard the repair would be by going to the searspartsdirect.com web site and putting in the model # off the ID TAG. Then look for the door latch assembly and that will give you an idea of the cost of the parts and get an idea of how hard it is to replace.

I have a GE model JE2160SF03 1.65 KW. It has no power, I have checked recepticle it has power. No didital display, nothing comes on.

Dead appliance, power on wall outlet.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARRAMOUNT!

Attempt this only if you are competent.

If your appliance has absolutely no functions at all, remove it from the mains supply, remove the case and see where the mains lead goes in to the appliance and follow the cable until you find the main fuse.
ONLY USE THE SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE TO REPLACE IT.
The usual cause of this fuse failure is the door switches are contaminated or sticking. Check the door switches before putting power back on to the appliance.
Hope this helps.

Advantium 120 blew breaker when door was closed. I reset breaker and it worked for three weeks. Breaker is blown again...when i open the door and reset breaker it works, but as soon as you close the door...

I'd suspect the interlock monitor switch is stuck, or its mounting bracket is out of adjustment. This is designed to blow the fuse if you try to run the oven while the door is open. The switch is supposed to open when you close the door. This switch is replaceable, but you should have this oven repaired by a professional. There are lethal voltages present with the cover off, and the possibility of microwave leakage is the repairs aren't done correctly.

Microwave won't turn on. Seems like it is not getting power. I checked breaker. I am looking for a fuse. You know where one is? It is a GE Spacemaker(2 yrs old) model # JVM1440WH04

  • Make sure that the microwave is plugged into a grounded outlet. It must be a 3-prong outlet.
  • Make sure the clock is set.
  • Check to see if a programming sequence was entered. Sometimes improper programming or a program sequence such as delay start can cause the touch panel to be non-responsive. Unplug microwave or turn off house circuit breaker for 30 seconds. Plug back in, or reset circuit breaker, and try reprogramming unit.
  • Check the house circuit breaker or fuse box. If the microwave is DEAD and there is no display and nothing works- the problem could be a blown fuse or tripped breaker.
