In the communications option of the camera Menu, there are two options to choose from. Try changing the options. one of them works with Canon software to download images.

SOURCE: Canon EOS Rebel T2 300X Won't Autofocus or Take Picture

This may be a problem with the autofocus itself, try the following:

  • If you have a different lens, see if the autofocus works with the other lens. If it does, there may be something wrong with your lens.
  • Clean the contacts (the little metal things between the lens and the camera) with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth
  • Try replacing the battery in the camera
If none of this helps, you may have to take your camera to a qualified repair person to get them to have a look at it.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Canon EOS/Rebel XT won't power up

Joe, this happened to me, just tonight... I got a new CF card and stuck it in, turned it on and one CF card flash. Completely dead from there. I found one of the CF card pins bent over, shorted out the socket and blew the mainboard fuse. I took the camera apart, found the fuse (labelled K) about under the set button area) I bridged the fuse with a bit of solder, straightened out the pin in the socket, put it all back together and it's working fine. The fuse is under the right side shield cover, it's labelled with a letter K. There is another fuse on the power inlet board (below the shutter button) and it's labelled 'P'...

SOURCE: My new canon rebel T2i/EOS

A 5 error is the camera thinks the flash is not raising. Look near the hinge for a small button and see if it is up or down. This lets the camera know is the flash is up or down and if the button is stuck down you will hear the motor fire a few times and it will then error.
Unfortunately, this is one of the problems that starts to appear on cameras with pop-up flashes. You can hit the button and pull it up at the same time. Only other option is to send it to Canon to get it repaired.
or, Get an Speedlite like the 430EXII or 580EXII. The flash unit may make your camera bigger, but the results will be much better once you learn flash techniques.

Canon EOS Rebel T2 - film loaded, but then wouldn't take a picture, the frame count was flashing on screen. What is the problem?

Hi. Open the camera back and pull the film further over towards the pick up spool, close the back and try again to take a photo, i had the same problem with an eos 650 and it always worked.Good luck.

Film will not fully load

On many of the film Rebels, mine is the T2, the film is completely unwound. As we take pictures the film is rewound in to the film cassette. That is a film safety feature. If the back if the camera accidentally opens we only expose unused frames. The frames we took are safe in the cassette.

When I take videos with my canon rebel, it stops recording after about 30 seconds. Do I have some settings set incorrectly?

If you are shooting video then you must have the Canon Digital Rebel T2i as the Rebel T2 is a film camera. Anyway I've checked through some data and your camera is capable of 29 minutes 59 seconds of video before shutting down due to heat. I would expect that your memory card is not a Class 6 or faster if it is then you may have forgotten to format the memory card to the camera it is being used in.

How long has this camera been out? I'm shopping

HI,
The Canon Rebel T2i was announced on Feb 08, 2010 and Canon just started shipping the DSLR. Your salesperson was thus correct.
The DSLR is also known as EOS 550D. It differs from the previously model by:
  • Higher resolution 18MP CMOS with gapless micro lenses
  • ISO 6400 no longer in 'expanded' range (12,800 max remains the same)
  • Redesigned buttons and new movie/live view button
  • Customizable auto ISO ranges
  • Improved 63 zone metering (iFCL)
  • 3:2 format screen with more pixels
  • Improved movie functionality
  • Slightly higher burst shooting rate (though buffer holds fewer shots)
  • HDMI control (CEC)
  • SDHX Compatible

    Pictures too dark

Check your exposure compensation. It really sounds like someone set the camera to underexpose. This may be solved by removing the batteries for a few minutes. Other solutions are hitting the reset which will cancel all and return it to factory settings OR navigate to the exposure compensation settings and reset it there. If none of these solutions work, then the camera's internal program is messed up and its internal computer needs replaced.
