SOURCE: where is the jumper on a motherboard for dell
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pe2650/en/sm/jumpers.htm
That page explains what jumpers are and where they're GENERALLY located. Each motherboard is different. There are usually some abreviations near the jumpers that let you know what it is that they're for. You need to be a computer guru to understand a lot of them. I'm assuming you've locked yourself out of the system bios and forgot the password. The picture in the link above should show you what that jumper might me labeled as.

SOURCE: i forgot my bios password
Dear ruimoreira66,
Now there are two ways potentially of getting around this very irritating issue. I say it is irritating, and it is because this is time consuming and worst case scenario is that physical damage is caused. Not from the password, but by trying to remove it, and it is this that I am going to touch upon.
Often the favoured way is to find some software that will retrieve BIOS passwords, but these are not easy to comeby, and I dont think Dell machines will work with these utilities.
Now the small problem that you may have, is that you need to completely strip down your laptop. The reason is so that you can set the internal jumper setting to clear CMOS, this jumper I give reference to is made of plastic and will be loacted nearby to or next to what looks like a watch battery on the main motherboard itself.

This is where you can get the support service manual if you wish to attempt to do the work yourself. I however would reccomend strongly that you should readup completely on your laptop before attempting any disassembly to the extent you will have to go to. As long as you can get to the system reset pins then you should be perfectly ok, but as I have said, this may require a large part of your machine to be carefully dismantled. If after you have read up on this and you are still unsure as to what you need to do, I would suggest consulting someone whom is in the know, and will be able to perform the work for you at a small charge.
I hope that this is the fixya for you, and if you have any problems, questions or queries, please do not hesitate to get hold of me and I will gladly provide knowledge advice andassistance/ comments.
Yours sincerely
Oz
