I presume the motor is running, take the front brush roller off and check the fan is still intact. Possibly broken fan.

There's two possible reasons for no suction on an upright if the motor is running. Either your fan is broken or your air passage is blocked inside the machine, not the hose. A vacuum will still have suction if the belt to the roller is broken, the belt runs the rollers, not the fan. The shaft that the belt is connected is also the shaft for the fan. Look inside and see if there are fan blades or are they broken off. If they are broken off then you will have to replace the fan unit. If the fan is in tact and is spinning, then you probably have a blockage. Check inside where you attach your bag. You may have to disconnect the hose that actually connects to the bag, or in some cases, that tube is clear so you can see blockage. If you cannot see through it, then simply take it off and look in both that tube AND the airway that feeds that tube. Either way, a broken or worn BRUSH belt will not stop the suction, that comes from the fan inside the vacuum housing. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Fix for broken tubing leading into filter bag?

You can replace the black tubing. There is no need to get a new vacuum. You can find the parts you need by following the link below.

SOURCE: Need Kirby Generation 3 Vacuum cleaner manual.

If your brush roll is turning and your bag is not overly full, then the only other thing it can be is a clog where the bag connects to the vacuum. Turn the plastic part out away from vacuum and lift off to see if you have something clogging it. It would have to be something big, but not so big that it could not get past the fan. As a rule of thumb, KIRBY never clogs. I suspect that your belt is stretched out and your brush roll is not turning while on the carpet so the brush roll is just in the way rather than brushing your carpet to pick up dirt.

My vacum will not pick up, it is spitting the dirt out?

Check for blockage.

Most likely place is in the tube leading up from behind the beater bar. While unplugged, remove beater bar & belt & check.

If you have a strong shop vac, remove beater bar, belt, and bag, applying suction to the tube in back of the beater bar will many times dislodge the clog with little effort, sometimes though it will take some fishing around with a stiff piece of coathanger wire or similar.

Normally when you can apply suction with the shop vac to the tube in back of the beater bar & feel suction at the tube were the bag connects, you know you've got it all and you should be unclogged. Put it back together and you should be ready to roll.

My Kirby seems to be putting more dirt on the floor than what it is picking up? The brush roller is turning but it leaves dust streaks . It also shoots particles out the side instead of vacuuming it up....

Hi there. It sounds like you belt may be stretched. Simple turn vac upside down, start it up and carefully press your hand on the brush. If the belt is stretched the rollewr will stop turning. If this does not help, you probably have a clog in the power head area. Hope this helps, Chris

The performance indicator light will not go out. I have cleaned the bag, filter and hose. there does not seem to be enough suction.

you are clogged somewhere ...

no suction?
performance indicator says no suction?

find and remove the clog.

id be looking in the hose about 4 inches from where the dirt enters the brush but dont limit your looking. The entire system should be checked for a clog. Remove it and you willbe back in business.

I have 'trash picked' more than 100 vacuums this summer, off the curb. 90 were clogged. I cleaned then and turned them into $.

Panasonic MC-E468 vacuum cleaner loss of suction

HI If the cleaner is loosing suction make sure to check all inspection tubes and the dirt channel hoses after the spinning brush. Also check the main hose for any clogging. One of the worst faults of this model is clogging hoses. Hope that helps you.

Brush is not rotating.

Turn the vac over, remove the access plate, covering the brush roll, 2 to 4 screws. Brush roll part number is 2032032if you need it, belt is a Bissell Style 7. While you have the brush roll off, check in dirt inlet to see if it is clogged, also check the hose to see if it is clogged. You won't feel suction at the bag tube, it has to have a bag on it and the lid closed before it will create suction.

Don't panic! Easy fix!

I was having the same problem, but I removed the base plate from the bottom of the vaccum (5 screws on mine), revealing the roller and the engine. Just behind the roller is an intake tube. Mine had a piece of wrapping paper stuck in it causing everything else to clog up.
