Hi There,

Here's a step by step guide explaining what you have to do to change your Kirby from a vacuum into a blower:

Step 1. Make Sure That Your Kirby is Unplugged from the wall. Remove the front nozzle of the machine by lifting the housing that contains the headlight upwards. Now rotate the belt lifter from the green "Belt On" setting to the red "Belt Off" position:

Step 2. With the belt lifter turned to the red "Belt Off" setting, Turn the knob at the top of the bell shaped agitator housing to release the brush housing from the vacuum:

Step 3. Locate the attachment called the saftey cup that attaches on the Kirby in the exact same place as the brush housing did. This part does two things; Activates the safety switch to the left of the fan, and secondly covers the opening to the fan chamber to prevent anything from getting inside the fan i have a kirby g4 how do i make it blow air - 3ee7ce2.jpg damaging it.

Step 4. Once you install the safety cup it is a good idea to check if the vacuum is working. If it is not (assuming it did work with the nozzle) - check if safety cup switch actuator isn't broken (see picture).

If it works then but it does not when you installi have a kirby g4 how do i make it blow air - 20be473.jpgnext step) you will know that you did not turn the hose far enough.

Step 5. Take the bag off the Kirby. On the bigger end of the hose there is a line that you have to match with a little bump on i have a kirby g4 how do i make it blow air - b279d3e.jpgan housing (marked with red dots). Push the end of the hose over the Kirby exhaust as far as it can go.

Step 6. Turn this hose end clockwise (you may have to apply considerable force).

Step 7. It has to be turned far enough to press another safety switch that is on the unit just behind the exhaust neck.

Step 7. You are done and ready to use it as a blower. We would recommend turning it on outside. Hose may have some dust accumulated on the inside and it may blow a lot of dust in the first few seconds of use. Also shake the hose well while outside to loosen any dust/dirt accumulations on the inside.

Be very careful when blowing dust out of computers or other electronics.
  1. Dirt from inside of the hose may damage components.
  2. Airflow is so strong that it may breai have a kirby g4 how do i make it blow air - 30fa7e1.jpgoards if they are not well mounted around the perimeter.
  3. Using Kirby a lot of static electricity may be generated that may cause circuit failure due to electrostatic discharge (harmless to people - deadly to electronics).

    30fa7e1.jpg
NEVER operate blower with the nozzle on. There are 3 important reasons for that:
    1. Kirby is designed to have much higher RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) with the hose or safety cup so it will push i have a kirby g4 how do i make it blow air - a2e574a.jpgan with the nozzle.
    2. If you use kirby as a blower with the nozzle - dust and dirt that is in the nozzle from vacuuming carpets and/or rugs will be blown into the air.
    3. If there is nothing (no nozzle no safety cup) Kirby vacuum simply will not turn on.

My Kirby Sentria has started blowing air rather than suctioning anything from my carpet. I had done absolutely nothing to it. One week it worked. The next it didn't. So I changed out the bag even though it was not full. I took the "shoe" off the housing and looked for clogs. There were none. I checked that the roller brush was able to roll freely. It was. the belt has a defect from use in it, but it is not broken. What haven't I done that I could do? (The green light won't turn on, showing that it is not functioning properly)

I had my kirby for many many years. All this time I had been raking my yard. Until last night I realized that kirby converts to blower. I want to kick myself. This was very helpful, I had to see how to put together,

Very low suction when I use the hose, but the carpet brush roller attachment works fine. Any ideas?

This style of vacuum has great airflow but does not have great suction, especially at the end of the hose but it still should have enough to pick up most soils. It may have a restriction in the suction tube or emptor. The disposable bag may be full or clogged, the outer bag could also be clogged.

No suction from base or hose attachment

Hi,
I had the same problem with my Eureka vacuum cleaner. I don't have the problem with the beater bar, but I had the problem with the attachment hose not getting any suction. I found out that I was putting attachment on the wrong end of the hose. The end that you use in the front. Don't how I got that confused because it always worked before. Hope this helps with the hose part of the problem.

How do I attach upholstery parts?

Remove the main head and put on the air guard.
Take of the bag assembly and attach the hose.
Mix up the solution in the "Suds o gun".
Attach this to the end of the hose.
When you switch on, foam will dispense from the gun.
Gently sponge this into the furniture.

Hose for G3 Kirby doesn't fit Sentria

Yes G3 and G4 had different gasket thus the suction blower connector connecting Kirby hose to the unit on later models is different. You do not need to replace entire hose but just the plastic part that connects to the vacuum. You can find it HERE. To remove old connector you may have to submerge the end of the hose into hot water (not to hot to touch) so the vinyl becomes soft and you can bend it in with finger bringing plastic end over the lip on the molded end of the hose.

I havent used my shampooer for over a year, and i am now having t

These are the parts-Tank,tray,brush roll, brushroll housing, belt, hose, foam screen(small, quarter sized plastic screen)large foam air filter,(should be on the air inlet at tank).

Starting with brushroll, install belt over brushroll, and place brushroll in the trayInstall the brushroll housing over the top of tray..Looking thru the back, turn the belt lifter knob until the hook inside picks up the belt.Raise the height adjuster on the Kirby all the way up.Attach the entire assembly to the front of maching, and lock it on.Now turn the belt lifter clockwise until the belt drops onto shaft.Snap the elbow end of hose to tray. Before attaching the other end of hose to tank, make sure the foam screen is fitted onto the small outlet at tank, then install hose.Note:Sometimes the screen will be in the tank end of hose allready.Without this screen, you wont get foam, only solution.Make sure the foam air filter is installed in the large opening at the tank,or dirt will get into tank, clogging it.Install the tank to the blower side of machine. You should be ready to go.Lower the height adjustment all the way down.
