You will need an amazon account. When you first start your tablet it should ask you to enter your Amazon username and password. If not you can always reset the tablet to factory setting and enter the username and password of your Amazon account to start the registration process.
Follow the instructions in the e-mail sent to the e-mail address on your account. Note: If you created your account with a mobile phone number, you'll receive an SMS message with instructions instead of an e-mail.
Is there an option on the log in page for either forgot password, or cant access my account...Or contact amazon at [email protected] should take you where you can reset your password. I hope this helps.

As a first step I would visit the Google Account Recovery page and start with "I don't know my username" to try and figure out the username. Once you have the username you can then reset your password.
You'll need to do a factory reset: 1. With the device off, press and hold Volume
Up and Power.
2. Release the Power button
when you see the logo, but continue to hold Volume Up until
the recovery screen appears.
3. Use the Volume buttons to navigate the menu
and select wipe data / factory reset. Press Home to
choose the selection.
4. Press Volume Up continue.
This will reset you device to factory settings, however
anything on your SD card will still remain.
At this point you will need to start fresh as if you just
bought the device -- register with your email address, etc.
