Keyboard Not Recognized

Hi all! After going around with the people at Viotek, and having them send me out a replacement keyboard, I'm sad to say that neither of my systems (WinXP or Win7) are recognizing the keyboards input. Essentially, the USB dongle for the set us working fantastically with the mouse - but for some reason, nothing is registering when I put a battery in the keyboard. Any ideas?

You may need to enable the keyboard in the Bios as a USB keyboard.

Whats the key command to sync keyboard to pc?

There is no key command. It has a mini receiver that you just plug into a USB port. The mini receiver just snaps into the mouse, so you may not have noticed it. See this... http://viotekusa.com/hawkpeck.html

Have a dell latitude D620 that is password protected in such a way as to prevent even the F2 and F12 keys to function. Can you supply a way around this please

You may have a USB keyboard that is not recognized by the BIOS on powerup, but is later recognized by Windows when that starts running. Try connecting a keyboard with a PS2 connector, enter F2 on startup and set the BIOS to enable USB devices in BIOS. If this still doesn't work, then keep a PS2 keyboard around in case you ever need to activate F2 or F12.

Hi,

This should be similar for your keyboard. Please refer to the instructions on the link for how to dismantle the keyboard from the laptop. Then you can go and replace it or send it to the manufacturer for replacement.

KEYBOARD IS NOT RECOGNIZED

I have come across this before and it turned out to be a bad ps2 port on the main board. I just used a cheap usb keyboard and never worried about it.

Keyboard is off?

If it's a PS/2 keyboard (round connector, about the diameter of a pencil, check to see if you're plugging it into the keyboard port. It's easy to plug it into the mouse port by mistake.

Another thing to try is to turn off the PC, plug the keyboard in, and turn back on so it will initialize on bootup.

If it's USB, it should be recognized immediately if the keyboard is functional.

Keys coming off my HP Pavilion 5000 laptop

I'm afraid that if the keys "keep coming off" then the very small bits of plastic that keep them down have permanently broken (very common) and that you must replace the keyboard. Page 5-28 of this document from HP explains how to replace the keyboard of that model.

Keyboard not recognized

I'm assuming it's a wireless keyboard?

Have you tried "ReSyncing" the keyboard?

1) On the base unit for the keyboard/mouse plugged into the computer press the button on it.
2) Press the button on the bottom of your keyboard.
3) Try to use the keyboard.

You might have to try it a couple of times. That'll fix the problem 99% of the time. The other 1% means your keyboard is dead.

Wireless keyboard doesnt work with switch

once you have switched pc you will need to re-sync the wireless keyboard and mouse with the new pc, because although you have switched pc the keyboard and mouse do not know this. there should be a reset/resync button on the bottom of both the keyboard and mouse
