Controller displays E instead of the number temp setting

I set the control on the setting of 2 or 3 and after being on for a little while the control shows the letter E instead of the number I set it on.

After turning off the unit the display is off but the unit is still running.

If it has humidity control and the cool is still on but set temp is higher than the room temp, the humidity control will override set temp. If it has no %rh control then it probably has a circuit board fault; micro relay is stuck closed and board needs to be replaced. Its probably the circuit board. On it, there is a little black box(s). About 1" X 1/2" in size. With long run times the small contacts inside will fuse/melt together.

Reset temp

To Change Temperature Control Setting with Touch Pads:
• Freezer setting is on the left side of the display.
• Fresh Food setting is on the right side of the display.
- Press the warmer or colder pad for compartment and direction desired.
- Present control setting number will illuminate.
- Each time the pad is touched, compartment setting changes one number.
A display of 1 is warmest and 9 is the coldest setting.
NOTE: Setting the controls to the 0 (off) position does not remove power to the light circuit.
Control settings will vary based on personal preferences, usage and
operating conditions and may require more than one adjustment.

I have a Skytech 3301 for a propane stove with some thermostat problems.

Great question! It sounds to me like the Skytech's swing temp setting may be out of whack.
Here is a quick link to the product page with a link to the owner's manual at the bottom if you need: Skytech 3301 Fireplace Remote.
Below is an excerpt on how to check and modify the swing temp settings for the Skytech 3301. (I apologize if the copy/paste formats poorly).
The Thermo Mode on the transmitter operates the appliance whenever the ROOM TEMPERATURE varies a
certain number of degrees from the SET TEMPERATURE. This variation is called the "SWING" or
TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL. The normal operating cycle of an appliance may be 2-4 times per hour depending on how well the room or
home is insulated from the cold or drafts. A smaller "swing number" increases the number of cycles so the room temperature is more
constant. A larger "swing number" decreases the number of cycles, which saves energy, in most cases. The factory setting for the "swing
number" is 2. This represents a temperature variation of +/- 2
0
F (1
0
C) between SET temperature and ROOM temperature, which determines
when the fireplace will be activated. The "SWING" number values are:
1=+ 1
0
F (.5
0
C), 2= + 2
0
F (1
0
C) and 3 = + 3
0
F (1.6
0
C).
SETTING THE TEMPERATURE SWING (TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL)
1. To change the temperature "SWING" setting (1-3), press the TIMER/TIME and DOWN buttons
simultaneously to display the current "SWING" setting in the SET TEMP frame. The letter "S" will
display in the ROOM TEMP frame on the LCD screen.
2. Press the UP or DOWN button to change the temperature differential or "SWING" (1-3). See above
for 1-3 "SWING" temperature valves.
3. To store the "swing number press the SET button or allow 15 seconds to lapse, and the new "swing
number' will be automatically programmed.

MANUAL CHECK OF " SWING" OR TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL
The operation of the factory set "THERMO SWING" can be checked by adjusting the SET TEMP 2
0
F above or below the room temperature.
This will cause the system to turn ON or OFF. Normally the system will only respond to temperature changes every two minutes. Manually
changing the SET temperature will activate the system in less than 10 seconds. IF the "SWING" is changed, then a new room temperature
differential will respond. Factory setting of "SWING" temperature is 2
0
F.

Brand new freezer set at 7 is creating excessive frost. Is it set too high or low maybe?

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. Each brand or temp control is silghtly different than even a like model on the display floor. However.... Most temp settings that are normal are right in the middle of the control setting range. Be it a mechanical control or an electronic control. If yours is a mechanical setting and the setting dial goes from 0 to 9 then the average temp setting would be between 4.25 and 5. A freezer should keep ice cream hard. If you do not have a thermometer then a small tub of ice cream makes a great thermometer. Each day i.e 24 hour period you reduce the setting 0.5 until you notice the ice cream is softening. Then once it softens increase the temp setting 0.75 of a between numbers setting. I.e The ice cream was soft at 3.5 then increase setting to 4.25 etc etc.

Thanks for chosing FixYa.

Kelly

P. S. If you need more detailed information please provide your freezer "make and model number" in you next response so we can provide you information applicable to your exact freezer.

When I change the temp. setting it keeps heating at original temp

The keypad appears to working correctly.

When you alter the set temperature via the keypad the display will flash the temperature thats to be acheived, once it stops flashing the keypad will revert back to the current temperature of the water.

Hope that helps,
Ian.

Frigerator is freezing.

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.

Now, why is too much cold air getting over to the Ref side?
1. The little door is open too much.
check your control setting. You should be able to feel air coming through the channel on the Ref side

2. The cold control is bad causing the compressor to run too much.

Digital Control (for oven temp and clock adjustment) not working

Puzzeled, usually when there is a stuck or shorted keypad there will be an error code. First let's see if we can tell if we are in Centigrade or Ferenhiet. Press the bake and broil button together for 2 or 3 seconds. SF should appear in the display. Press the broil pad again and C or F will be displayed. Toggle to F and press start. See if that was the problem. If not try to increase the speed of the + and - keypads. Press bake and broil together for 2 seconds until SF displays. Press the + keypad increase the speed of the control. It should toggle from 1 to 5, 5 being the fastest. Press start and see if that works. If niether works..then have someone remove the keypad ribbon cable from the control board and clean the ends with an eraser. See if that solves the issue...Catriver..post back and let me know.
