The outside of the lense may be dirty. When it comes out clean it. Or something else prevents it from fully opening. If it is clean, you might have droped it and damaged or broke mechanical part(s) of your lense. When it opens, try to hold the lense open, do not force it. If the did not help, take out the lense from the camera and inspect the lense. look for broken, or bent parts. Clean it and push the lense in and out. If it moves in and out without any problem, put it back on your camera. If the problem was from the lense, your camera should be back to normal.

Good luck!!!!!!!

I have a Kodak MX1063 and when you zoom in on something the camera shuts off.

are you using the recommended battery KODAK Li-Ion Rechargeable Digital Camera Battery KLIC-7001., if yes try to fully charged the battery for 4hrs using Ac adaptor of your camera or the USB cable., if you turn On the camera fo to focus mode or flower icon on your dial mode and then press the zoom button., if you encounter same problem it means that the gear of the lens is already defective and needs of service kodak toll free 1 800 235 6325

The camera will not stay on

try to use lithium batteries they are the stronger in the market, o just grab a fresh AA alkaline batteries, not the cheap batteries for clocks o remotes. otherwise it won't turn on

Camera turns off immediately after being turned on. thought it was the battery, bought new one charged it and even though it says full charge, the camera still wont stay on.

This fault is usually caused by a lens problem.
Over 95 percent of lens problems are from Knock damaged or sand/grit in mechanism. Try turn it on in playback mode and see, does the lens come out and go back in before it turns off?
Cheers.

Kdak MX1063 won't stay on...

Try cleaning the contacts from the battery and the battery compartment of the camera. I had the same problem, used a cotton swab to clean and this fixed it, it seems to be a common problem.

I dropped my mx1063 in the sand at the beach. I

This is not a user solvable problem. One thing that should not be done is to turn on the camera when it has been dropped in dirt, sand or water. This will, in your case, grind the dirt around and parts try to move and contaminate additional parts of the camera. It's only worse if water is involved as this will likely cause shorts in electrical areas.
Take the camera to a repair shop and get their opinion on whether it is fixable and if so what they estimate the cost to be. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new or used camera.

My battery is fully charged, camera goes on and shuts off.

this generally happens if you have dropped it. when the message comes. try tapping the camera. if it works then you are lucky. if not then you have to change the lens array. it costs about 60$
