Drivers Not a problem but a question.I'm working a pc build and need to know.Will a 20x dvd writer with 48x cd-rom read speed.Work as a cd- rom drive.

Not knowing the operating system, In windows 7 and 8 sometimes it forgets the cd format. Then you need to go to the device manager and remove the drive and let windows re-detect it.

make sure you buy CDs or DVDs which are speed compatible to your optical drive or COMBO drive speeds

if you are busying compatible speed CD media, then take some compressed air (can) and clean the drive bay and inside the optical drive area, to dedust it .

if ALL this fails, you may have to replace the DRIVE itself

According to the LG website, this unit is a CD-ROM (Read Only Memory) which means it only reads CD's. You'll need a CD Writer (CD-R or CD-RW) in order to burn CD's.

Should be IDE cable...IDE interface according to the specs. You computer has IDE connections so the drive should work.

in these case your dvd writer became dvd rom due to optical lens problem. some other case dvd can read only cd or became cd rom also due to optical lens problem. change the optical lens or adjust trimmer for laser.

Hello, I have had similar problems with that same motherboard in the past and have found that resetting the cmos (see users manual) or just taking the battery of the motherboard for a few minutes can solve this. CAUTION please remove the power lead on your tower before touching any components inside, and earth yourself first by touching metal.. as static discharge kills pc components..
