Is there an incompatibility between Onkyo 606 and KEF Wireless?

I use an Onkyo 606 with KEF 3005SE and KEF Wireless system. When in standby I get a low hum which isn't there at all when teh system is being used. The dealer is telling me that there is a fundamental incompatibility between the Onkyo and the KEF Wireless system and I need to change the Onkyo. Is this right and is there nothing I can do to get this working ciorrectly? Hi mate, any luck with your problem? I've got the same problem. I have just put together my new system consisting of: Sony AV receiver (2400es) Kef 1005.2 speakers Kef wireless system QED speaker wire and QED HDMI cables I get a static (slightly crackly) noise coming from the surround speakers when the transmitter is powered up and everything else is in stand-by. As soon as I switch on the amp it goes silent! What TV have you got because it seems to be my TV causing this somehow. If I detach the HDMI cable from the back of the TV the noise stops. If I switch off the TV at the mains the noise remains. But if I physically unplug the TV from the wall the sound will then go. I have a Samsung 40" 6 series LCD and it seems to be sending some sort of interference down the HDMI cable but I'm totally baffled how (because the noise remains when the TV is powered down). I am just about to start contacting the companies for support. It's a right arse. I do have a further problem actually. When I am watching something in 5.1 all the speaker do perform very well. But it seems like when background noise (on the film or whatever) is fairly quiet, the kef wireless system seems to click in and out and if I put my ear to the rear speakers I can hear it crackling in and out. It does not do this if the signal is louder (e.g. during a speaker noise test from my AMP). Look forward to hearing from you, Cheers, Mark

    Thanks for the response,

I actually was trying to respond to the person with the Onkyo amp who seems to have the same problem.

So this cycle hum; is it from the TV? And does this occur when it is switched off at the mains?

I have tried plugging the transmitter and TV in different sockets and using different strip plugs but it does not make a difference. Why when the amp is switched on would it cause the static noise to stop?

    Thanks for the help,

    Mark

Have noise on left back speaker channel of onkyo 606 blocking sound from movies etc

Hi Brendan, have you swapped the speaker from the left channel to the right one so that we can be sure that it is not the speaker? You can also try a hard reset:

To do the reset you need to turn the receiver on, then on the front panel of the receiver press and hold the "VCR/DVR" button while doing that press the "STANDBY/ON" button. You will see the word "Clear" in the display screen and the receiver will go into standby mode. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR AUDIO & VIDEO ASSIGNMENTS ON THE RECEIVER PLUS YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR SPEAKER CONFIGURATIONS, SPEAKER DISTANCE AND ALL LEVEL CALIBRATION SETTINGS. YOU WILL ALSO LOSE ANY PROGRAMMED RADIO STATIONS IN MEMORY. Once the receiver goes into standby mode turn it back on and go thru the setup menu for all custom settings.

Im having trouble with connections from kef psw 1000 sub to onkyo tx sr506 amp. sub is making a bit of a humming noise but not getting any proper sound through. dont know what im doing wrong. can anyone...

Have you got the sub defined to the Onkyo correctly? Try conencting the sub's input to one of the Tape Out connectors and play some FM through it. That will prove if the sub is alive. The nwe can troubleshoot the correct failing device.

I have an Onkyo HT-S6100 home theater not sending picture to TV.

I just fixed mine with the same problem. Apparently, the HT-R667 and 606 receiver that comes with 6100 has a problem with the HDMI board. Onkyo wanted $500 dollars to fix it, costed me $16. Here's how to fix it. http://www.highdefforum.com/high-definition-receivers-recorders-players-tivos/121956-repairing-onkyo-htr667-aka-606-a.html

Onkyo 606 Video Drop out

main board fault, its input feed on the board might be failing, it could also be a failing capacitor, you would need to open it up to have a look and see if there are any capacitors failing.

Is there an incompatibility between Onkyo 606 and KEF Wireless?

Sorry this is not a solution.

I am having virtually the same problem and I wanted to find out if you managed to fix the issue?

It seems to be my LCD causing the static noise (even when it is powered down). The static noise goes away when I physically unplug the TV or disconnect the HDMI cable to the amp.

Onkyo HT-SR800 won't turn on

If you call Onkyo directly, 201-785-2600, there is a procedure to "reset" the system, something like holding the power button on and holding down another button for a few seconds. Can't remember which, so I can't be sure, but try giving them a call.

How to test your speaker

Check sub buy pushing cone in gently if you hear or feel a rasping sound the sub is blown,if not check for a fuse where the power cable goes in as this may need replaced. Also make sure you have the sub plugged into the sub pre out and not the six channel input.
PS did switch on the sub in the speaker set up in the menu?

Ps3 defaults to 576p when connected through onkyo 606 receiver

You have to tell the PS3 what the Okyo can do and it probably cannot do 1080P 60Hz (but can likely do 1080P 24Hz).  Try ticking more resolutions in the PS3s setup
