No, to format you just need OS CD, such as windows, Linux, Mac or others
motherboard CD is only contain the driver to run system of it including sound card, Video, Lan, modem, PCMCIA, or any components on your computer....
except your motherboard vendor gives you one more CD's, it called "recovery CD's".
recovery CD's is back up CD of your OS from the vendor, it including first OS, and motherboard driver also, so if you have it, you just have to boot the recovery CD,...no need to using OS CD

To boot from cd or pendrive, the device needs to be bootable. In otherwords to re install your Operating system, you will need an Operating System Disc.

Format aspire4736z

Hi there.

To format you will need:
Operating Systems (OS) CD/DVD

Steps:
1) Enter the BIOS when the laptop boots by pressing the Delete key repeatedly.
2) Once the BIOS is open locate the boot disk priority and set prioity 1 to the CD/DVD drive, set priority 2 to the laptop's hard drive.
3) Save changes to the BIOS and exit. The system should now reboot.
4) Insert your OS CD/DVD.
5) Press Enter when the system asks you if you want to boot from the CD/DVD.
6) The OS setup should now start, the first thing it will ask you to do is format your hard drive.
7) After you drive is formatted you can either continue with the setup and install a fresh copy of the OS or you can exit leaving the main drive clean.

When i install any OS "hard disk was not found" error is occuring.what is the reason for it?.

Hello Charles:
The reason your PC is saying "hard disk not found is because it isn't seeing any hard drives in your system. If your using a CD or DVD to install your OS you need to go into your Bios and set your boot settings to boot from CD-Rom first, that way it will boot from the CD or DVD first and then it will hopefully see your hard drive and start installing once it has performed its system checks.
Hope this helps, if you need more assistance just holler back.
Sincerely, Peter N.

Boot system failure!

You need to start from the hard drive, or from hard drive with CD support. You can change the boot device priority in BIOS /change it so that the optical drive is not first but the drive you installed the OS is/, or in some boards there's the option to choose boot device. In case of a Gigabyte mobo it would be F12, that would bring a device list and after choosing your hdd the install would continue.
