Harddisk security password problem

I am helping a friend with an acer aspire 5315 2326 problem. It is giving us a message "no bootable device. insert boot disc and press any key". No disc came with the computer. When I press control, alt delete, it gives me a harddisk security message that reads "Primary Master Toshiba MK1646GSX Set". When I press enter, it gives me blue box that reads "Toshiba MK1646GSK ?" What do I do to gain access to the computer? This is the first time we are attempting to use it.

It sounds to me that someone has passworded the hard drive. If you do not know the password, there is no way to access the hard drive. The two options in this case are get the password from whoever put it on or uy a new harddrive. People usually password their harddrive in case it is stolen or lost, then nobody can read thei data or use their computer.

My daughter's ACER inspire one gives the following message and makes a beeping sound "Check Cable connection! PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE Rom No bootable device---insert boot disk and press any key

There is a loose connection between the hard drive and motherboard of the computer, that's why you are getting that message. You most likely need to take it to a computer repair shop so they can fix it.

Disk Boot Failure

you need to select ur harddisk as the first bootable device., that option is in BIOS settings. When switch on the system before loading OS press F2 to get the BIOS settings and select boot option in the menu and select your harddisk as the first bootable device. Restart the system now. If the same error is displayed your harddisk data cable may be failed or your harddisk may be corrupted...

Harddisk Security Code - Acer Aspire 5720

Generally you can remove passwords by removing something called the CMOS battery. This battery retains the configuration of the computer when the AC power and main battery aren't present or working.

The battery is generally located in the RAM expansion bay. Locate the battery and remove it. let the laptop sit without ANY power connections for at least 30 minutes. When 30 minutes or more has passed, replace the battery and connect power. Boot the laptop and press F2 to enter the BIOS setup. Generally no configuration is necessary on laptops so just save and exit.
