It's obvious that the power supply failed. The most common parts in a power supply are a thermistor or a voltage rectifier, possibly even a voltage regulator. diodes or resistors can act as fuses too. A ringing sound can come from a fixed coil that isn't kept still with enough epoxy. Hope this helps.

Hi,Iwas watching TV and the screen went black. No lights on,I unplugged and plugged again but anything happened. My TV is a Toshiba Regza model 42RV530U. Can you help me? Thanks

If there was a popping noise of any kind when the tv screen went black there's a high possibility that one of the fuses in the tv popped and there is no power to the tv. It could also just be the outlet itself and try plugging the tv to different working outlets.

We had a trasnformer blow and our power went of.the tv didnt make no noise our nothing.when the power came back on the tv wont come on.

It sounds like you might get lucky and have blown the in-line fuse. By lucky, I mean, it could be worse, but you need to open the tv and check for the "white/Slow Blow" fuse that connects to the power plug of the tv.

Hope this helps :)

My screen went black while watching tv a fuse or somthing else?

If your TV makes ANY noise at all while trying to power up(turn on) then your A/C FUSE IS GOOD.
Relay makes a clicking niose when TV is turned on.
Any led that lights up while trying to power up set>>A/C fuse will be good!!!

TV went out

Hey Jim, The high voltage protection circuit has gone out on the D-board and will need to be replaced. The fuse to the power supply is probably fine. A good repair tech shouldn't charge over $125 for this and it only takes a couple of hours. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
