I'm trying to get my Philips universal remote to activate by old (non-flat screen) Sylvania tv.
Do you know the codes that I should be inputting into the remote?
The code is 0520
This was a helpful hint. These codes worked where the other codes I got from the Philips and Sylvania websites did not. However, there is no need to put a zero in front of each code. Codes for universal remotes should only be four digits. - Thanks for the help!

Only one code worked (out of the 13 codes provided for Sylvania TVs
with my Philips Universal Remote) so I could program my Philips
Universal Remote to operate my Sylvania 6413TC 13" TV: 0520
After manually turning on the TV:
1. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the red indicator stays on, then release the CODE SEARCH button.
2. Press and release the desired Mode button (in your case -
TV). The red indicator blinks (very quickly), then stays lit.
3. Enter the 4-digit code (0520), and if it's valid, the red
indicator should turn off. (Supposedly, for an invalid code, the
red indicator flashes. However, when I tried all 13 codes, the
red indicator turned off, yet only one code actually worked. Go
figure.)
4. Press CHANNEL UP. If your TV responds, no further
programming is required. Although, some buttons on your Universal
Remote may not operate your TV. (They all worked for me, yeah!)
If 0520 does not work for you, here are all the codes provided by
Philips: 0807, 0002, 0502, 0115, 0520, 0919, 0324, 0247, 0402,
0408, 0109, 0715, 0717.

Several people in the on-line forums suggested inputting the brand search codes for Philips and Magnavox sets -- but it didn't work for me. Someone else suggested that Funai Corp (China) now makes some Sylvania sets, and their rep said that universal remotes don't work for their products. My Philips Universal Remote says to enter "0" for the brand search code, and that will instruct it search for all the codes installed in it. But there are approximately 300, so be very patient. And it didn't work for me anyway. . . but maybe it will for you.
