Try putting sd card back into a pc and check that the write protection is turned off. also if it has a write protection switch on the side of it it will need to be off. failing this. you may need to check what format the sd card was formatted in . it will need to be ntfs formatt not fat32. if it is fat32 ,save whats on it re format to ntfs then reload your files. try again.. cheers Phixxer.

Garmin nuvi 200 SD card

Did you rename the file extensions? On the unit, the map file and map unlock file must be named gmapprom.img and gmapprom.unl

On the SD card they must be named gmapsupp.img and gmapsupp.unl.

Also copy your garmindevice.xml file over to the SD card too.

My garmin nuvi 350 gps will not recognize the sd card with music files

Please see this link for additional help.

Make sure you have a folder named "mp3" on the SD card and that the files are in that folder. Try pressing the "source" button in the mp3 player to grab thefiles from the SD card. Also, if there are a lot of files, it may take a while for the Nuvi to read them all before they are displayed.

Garmin nuvi 360 can't read sd card

Make sure you format first the sd card and then the maximum giga byte is 2 mb and the minimum is 16 mb.

How to access music from sd card

Hook the Nuvi up to your Computer via USB, then Sync one song from Windows Media player to the SD Card on the Nuvi (it will show up as "Nuvi Memory Card" in WMP) You only need to sync one song and it can already be on the card. This will create the link your Nuvi needs to see the Music. Once you disconnect all your SD music will be available.

How do you get SD cards to play ???

Are the songs in MP3 format? Typically you connect the GPS to the PC using the USB interface and using Windows Explorer, drag & drop the MP3 files into the GPS's MP3 subdirectory.

Then on the main screen, select travel tools and then the MP3 player. Select browse and choose a song.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

Connection

use a cassette adapter. put the adapter in your car's cassette player and plug the wire into you garmin. when a command is made, it will play through your car's stereo, provided it is on the cassette mode. also, using the cassette adapter, you can play music from your nuvi if you have music loaded onto a sd card and placed in the nuvi's sd slot. the nuvi will interupt the music to give directions, then go back to playing music.

Garmin Nuvi 650 660 680 6XX SD Card PNY 4GB SDHC Works

just got my A-Data 8GB card today and proceeded to load it up with 7.2GB of MP3s (nearly full capacity).

I timed with my wrist watch the bootup times and there was no difference in the boot times whether the SD card loaded up with MP3's was inserted in the unit or not. What did change is that even one minute after booting up the songs wouldn't show up in the "MP3 Player" window, it just had a blanked out browse button and a generic icon like it has when no music is loaded.

It took a full 90 seconds or so for the MP3 player to actually become responsive and show my selections, but after that it was working normally (from what I can tell).

Nuvi 200

Insert your card with your JPEG picture only and you can read it.

You can also plug your usb and go to your computer , open the file GARMIN you will see many files , do not touch the GARMIN main files who include your charts and other important files but the others are there for the users. Copy and paste your picture into the one who already has picture from GARMIN.

Or copy into a SD card and read it on your NUVI 200 or 200W.

Best regards

Audiobooks on a Garmin Nuvi 650 GPS

I just read on the Garmin website that only regular MP3 files will work -- not books or music purchased through iTunes.
