Sometimes these off brand batteries can be flaky. Try unseating and reseating the battery just to be sure that its in place properly and then see if the laptop recognizes it.

    1) Why did you change the type?
    2) Is this a Dell-compatible battery?

Try to update your bios for your dell laptop. go to support.dell.com and click on the drivers and utilities image. place in your service tag. on the drivers list... look for bios. download the bios update and run it. it would restart the computer. make sure that you wait for it to return to windows. do not turn off the system while its updating the bios.

My dell Inspiron 1000 model pp08s when pluged in the computer wont turn on and the green light on the adapter flashes on and off

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
4. The power button could be bad
.
5. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

Sir, My DELL laptop ( LATITUDE / D 620 )is 1) Battery Not getting charged; Message says - battery not installed; even the new battery is not being recognized. 2) The underside is getting over heated in...

sounds like either a battery or motherboard problem. Try to restore the default settings in the BIOS and test the system. If this does not help try another battery to test it with your system. if the other battery works, its time to get a new battery. If the same thing happens even with a new battery, it would be a motherboard failure.

Dell Inspiron E1505 won't recognize new battery

It won't charge or work correctly if it's not the correct one and of the right voltage etc.I don't know how the battery even went in if it's not the Dell specified battery. If it went in and looked to fit maybe the battery itself is bad but its hard to say.

New dell replacement battery wont charge insp 9200

Sounds like it is a bad battery - do you know if it was working before you purchased it? Could the pins between the battery and laptop be misaligned? I had this once and i had to get a new system board.

Try taking out your hard disk plug in power, if it works, hard disk is faulty. If not,
Try taking out memory card, if there's a sound, memory card faulty. If no sound, it's your motherboard that is causing the error.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

My computer will not recognize the battery. Runs OK on AC.

Since the system is not seeing the batteries the apparent fault is the motherboard connection for the battery. If under warranty , contact Dell, in not, you can try and purchase a replacement motherboard on EBay.

I get the message ''The model number for the primary battery cannot be determined. This will prevent any battery present from charging i've flashed the new bios recommended by dell to stop the battery...

The Battery LED is indicating a battery failure. So the next step is to replace it. The battery life is generally 300 to 500 discharge/recharge cycles. So it appears a replacement battery is due.
