See if you get the Volume control or not. If you are able to get the Sound properly then you can create a Shortcut of Volume Control from the same path whihc i given...

I would check with Dell. This usually means that there was an issue with the operating system. If you don't the discs from when you bought the PC then contact Dell. They can get you the reinstall discs. These discs should get your PC up and running.

Contact Dell , do a factory system recovery.

turn off laptop.
press and hold on the D then press Power button.
during the LCD BIST test check if the black line down right side of the screen is visible. if yes LCD needs to be replaced. if not connect your laptop to an external monitor check if the black line display appears to the ext monitor, if yes uninstall / reinstall video driver if fails replace video card or if it is built in replace motherboard.

if no ext monitor available then run PSA (press and hold Fn key then press Power button)

check if the black line is visible. Check also in BIOS is black line is visible, if yes then uninstall reinstall first the video driver if fails replace LCD.

Turn off the computer and when you restart it keep tapping the key F2 on the top left of the keyboard. A BIOS screen should come up. If you see the lines on the screen at that time then yes its a hardware issue. If not then your video card drivers might be faulty and you can re-install them.

1. Your power adapter/ charger will need replacement. It seem you have no supply voltage to the laptop pc.
2. You may need to replace the battery. If you have access to another battery you can isolate this issue to the supply adapter.

That is *EXTREMELY* slow.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the network-cable from your computer.
Turn the computer on -- without a network-connection, does it start-up (to the Windows "wallpaper') any faster?

Uninstall BitTorrent and/or LimeWire and/or any other "file-sharing" software.

Run a "full" virus-scan -- something BAD may be running on your computer.

This is a common problems on lcd screens. Your screen inverter is causing this problem this is the small board underneath the LCD panel in the lid of the laptop. I will give you a link on how to replace your inverter.
