Can't read Blank CD or DVD even if it R or RW, when disk is inserted my windows explorer could not display all drives, it even hangs. Even my Installers that I used before could not be recognized anymore even my audio CDs it only hangs my windows explorer whenever I open it, except for CDs in movie format. BTW, I already cleaned the lens through CD Cleaner and in manual way (Open the DVD Drive) but still nothing happens.Could anyone give me some remedy.....plz
Thanks for the updating tip my firmware now is being updated but problem is still the same.
I can't run anything, It just hangs but drive blinks green (reading) as long as the DISC is within the drive. Unless I eject the disc then everything is back to normal. It just keeps on reading then stops after let say 30 sec. but still can't run any application unless disc is eject. Either:
* the disk you're inserting is not "empty" -- try it on a different computer;
* you should try a different manufacturer of "blank" disks;
* you need to upgrade the "firmware" inside your CD-writer, to recognize more brands of "blank" media;
* the CD-reader is malfunctioning -- when you "cancel" the burn-attempt, and insert a commercially-produced program CD or commercially-produced audio CD, can those disks be properly read?
* you have two CD/DVD devices in your computer, and you're inserting the "blank" disk into the "wrong" device.
is this the first time you are trying to read a blank DVD on it?what program are you using in reading it?explorer will not automatically recognise blank DVD's but programs like NERO will. Are you using a range of blank media you have used before?There is an issue with blank media in as much
how they are pressed/manufactured etc. To ensure compatibilty with the ever increasing range,an update to the burner is usually all that is needed, this is called firmware upgrade. Are you using the correct format disks?
Most drives will read anything, and most burners are
now "all formats", but you may have a burner that is
either one or other, not both, thats to say, your burner
maybe only a "DVD+R/RW" take note of the "plus" sign whereas your blank media maybe "DVD-R/RW".
i prefer u to use windows 7 ,it cheap and convienience in burning and any kind of disk without a programme(like nero) to do that and it have usb mobe for cd or dvdr mean it use your cd/dvd r like a usb (read,delete file even it a cd-r not a cd-rw)just simply double click in your drive and it will ask u to do that
You can also verify the users manual. Mostly you can see some code in the
CD-ROM like:
DVD-RW= Can write CD and DVD
DVD-R= Can only read DVD's
CD-R= Can only read cd's.
CD-RW- Can write CD's only.
