This is changed in the settings of the particular game/app you are using. It's commonly found in start menus, setting or options, under controls, and look, aim, or something similar will say 'inverted' ..change to normal and you should look/aim up when pushing up , down when down, etc.

My computer is unresponsive to the joystick; I plugged it into the usb port a message confirmed it was installed and ready for use but nothing happens when I move the joystick in a flight simulator or...

Hello, Here's the solution to your problem, you have to configure the games you're playing for the joystick to work, I believe all games have this option, ussualy in the "configure keyboard and mouse" options menu, click on any funcion you want your joystick to use for each button, and then press the button you want for that function, do that with all buttons of the joystick you want to use, some games need the joystick axis to be configured, just click on left/right and move your joystick in the desired direction, same procedure to up/down, if your joystick has a throttle wheel, do the same for it (if needed).
Procedure is simple and most games has small variants of this procedures I gave you, but they are simple to figure out.
Hope my solution helps, have a nice day :)

recalibrate your joystick go to system settings and to the system info, there, move the joystick around all 4 directions and then exit the screen, if the problem persists, open the PSP and clean & screw your joystick

Left joystick sticks

Sounds like the joystick is sticking, the only thing you can do would be to take apart the joystick and with a slightly damp washcloth, and clean off the joystick. Then after you clean all the stickiness off, put the joystick back together and the screws back on and it should react like normal.

Courtesy of Ehow here is the link that gives instructions on how to take apart the controller:

Controllers freak out

Sounds like its time to buy a new controller, You could spend hours trouble shooting this one and for the price of a replacement its really not worth the time playing around with it and trying to repair it.
