How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. SOURCE: Remote not sending signal to TV

I had the same problem-- again, after sitting on it for a minute or so. I think what happened is I un-saved the code for my television. I found these instructions to re-code the remote, and by following them, fixed the problem-- I now have a fully functioning remote control. Hope this works for you, too!

1.Manually turn on the component you want the remote to control.
2.Press and hold the component key (TV, VCR, Etc..) you wish to program. The illuminated ON-OFF key turns and remains on.
3.While holding the component key down, press and hold the ON-OFF key. The illuminated ON-OFF key turns off.
4.After holding down both keys for three seconds, the illuminated ON-OFF key turns back on.
5.Release both keys. The illuminated ON-OFF key remains on.
6.Press and release the ON-OFF key repeatedly until your component turns off. Wait four seconds between each keypress. Each time you press the ON-OFF key, the illuminated ON-OFF key blinks and the next code in the list is sent. This process continues until all of the codes in the Code lists have been searched. If your component turns off, you have found the correct code.
7.Once you have found the correct code, you must save the new code by pressing and releasing the STOP key. The illuminated ON-OFF key turns off. You must press the STOP key to save the code or the correct code will not be stored.

Power light blinking red

The tv is NOT in standby mode... it does not have a standby mode !!! But what is happening is.. your tv is getting lamp errors. this can be caused by voltage drops and spikes while the tv is on... and a factory reset can correct this. OR it can be one of two problems.. Bad Power supply or defective lcd panel.

AKAI 32" LCD HDTV WILL NOT TURN ON

The only solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the symptoms of a dying or defective power supply.
I service these power supplies, for more info write to [email protected]
