Red light blinking and no picture on Toshiba Model 65HX81 how do we fix?

Red power light blinking is shutdown--protective mode.

Before buying a remote I would see what is wrong with set.

The most common reason on this model is a short in the convergence circuit--uses two chips----method to see if they are shorted is to locate (not real easy on this model) and unsolder all 18 pins on each chip--if set turns on then(will look bad) one of the chips is gone and both need replacement.

The other issue this set has is bad Hyper boards that cause noise when cold and operate after warmup---more expensive to fix than a convergence problem.

Power botton blinks and there is no picture

Unplug the tv for 1 minute plug it back in, turn it on, if the button still blinks and the menu does not come up the tv will need to be serviced. All tv's should see a menu come up when the menu button is pushed.
