Clock stopped working on desktop how do i change the clock battery

There is no "Clock Battery" The only battery on a PC is the CMOS (BIOS) battery and it is a small "penny" battery. Just turn off the power and replace the battery.

Need to flash the bios to get the password off guy who gave me the comp is out of contact an vista install failed trying to boot from cd but password comes up at bios entry an boot menu

You cannot remove the password by flashing the bios. However, there are two possibilities that _might_ work, depending on how that particular model works:
1. Unplug the computer and remove the internal clock battery for a few hours at least - maybe overnight

2. Some motherboards have a "CMOS Reset" jumper on them that you can use to reset any password in the BIOS (and any other BIOS settings). It will probably be a two position jumper on the motherboard, usually somewhere near the clock battery. Put the jumper on the opposite position that it is in, power up the computer for about 30 seconds, power off the computer, then replace the jumper back to it's original spot. Then boot up the computer normally and you should be able to go into the BIOS

These two options don't apply to all systems, but probably most of them. IBMs are an exception because they store the BIOS passwords encrypted in a memory chip that doesn't require battery backup, so on them there is no way to reset the password. Hopefully yours is not like that and one of the solutions I gave will work.

The sound on my L7VMM2 motherboard is not working.

Hi,

First of all which operating system is on the machine?

Secondly have you been into the BIOS to see if the on-board has been disabled. To get into the BIOS restart the computer and press either the Del or Esc key to access the BIOS.

Also go to device manager and see if the audio has been disabled from there.

If you have installed Windows 7 or Vista then there could be a chance that the motherboard drivers are not designed for the operating system. If that's the case then no driver will work.
You would have to manually search the internet for someone who may have found a compatible driver.

Regards.

I need suggestions for correcting my Comouter

hi

suggestions to correct an unstable computer clock

clock can be corrected at the bios like when it boots go to the bios and set it there, but my hunch is that though you have tried this, you are getting it changed every often to a default date of manufacture this generally happens when the battery on the motherboard has gone weak resulting in inaccurate time and also sometimes loosing bios settings too best way to correct it is to change the battery on the motherboard

cheers

pls rate if this was any help

I have asus M.b p4 sys133 and it has a 2.00 MHZ processor .. when i gave changed it with another with 2.62 MHZ it didn't work and the computer was hanging .so what's the problem ???? the processors were...

Hi there.
The computer is probably struggling with the clock speed of the new processor.
Did you reset the BIOS setting?
If you didn't go into the BIOS and set it to default settings, hit F10, save the changes and restart the computer.
Clock speeds should now be reset and the computer should work. Also you should make sure the system memory is seated properly.

Good luck

Bios problem, system not boothing in normal mode

Try downloading the latest ChipSet for your intel board, second go into the BIOS and set your clock...
easier than that, double click on the clock at the bottom right of your screen and set it to the correct time and correct time zone, click Apply and then OK that will get rid of the checksum error.
You're doing fine, don't give up on the new drivers. You are almost there....
Hope this does it for you my friend, good luck,
please leave rating, thankyou kindly

Large hard drive

Yes it will. Mostly it is the operating system that will allow the drive to be see at its full size. Suggest you use Win XP home with at least SP1 but Win XP Pro with SP2 is faster & very stable. Also suggest you set the drive up with the Mfg's disk utilites. Bootable floppy or bootable CD. If using plain XP home you can still install the OS & than download a free trial of Partition magic which will allow you to combine any smaller partitions to get you up to you 250GB size. (only if you have a problem though.
